We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineering Group Leader to join a growing Buildings team in Barrie.
This is a leadership opportunity for a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with a strong consulting engineering background and extensive experience in structural design, project management, team leadership, and business development.
The successful candidate will lead a team of structural engineers, project managers, and technical staff while overseeing a diverse portfolio of building projects, including new construction, renovations, additions, structural assessments, repairs, building envelope repairs, and municipal structures.
This role is primarily office-based in Barrie, with a minimum of 4 days per week in the office.

The successful candidate will lead a team of structural engineers, project managers, and technical staff while overseeing a diverse portfolio of building projects, including current construction, renovations, additions, structural assessments, repairs, building envelope repairs, and municipal structures.

Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, train, and support structural engineering staff.
Oversee structural projects from concept through completion, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget requirements are met.
Provide technical leadership, design guidance, and quality-control reviews.
Manage project budgets, schedules, staff utilization, workload allocation, and profitability.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
Lead proposals, business development initiatives, and marketing activities.
Develop quarterly business plans, group objectives, and performance targets.
Coordinate with other engineering groups and internal teams to support project delivery and resource sharing.
Conduct structural engineering design, analysis, assessments, and technical reviews.
Support staff development, performance management, and professional growth.
Ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements, legislation, codes, and industry standards.

Experience with wood, timber, steel, concrete, and masonry structures is required.
Qualifications
P.Eng. designation in Ontario and registration with PEO.
Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment.
Strong technical leadership and team management experience.
Extensive experience designing, analyzing, and assessing commercial, institutional, industrial, residential, and municipal buildings.
Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, including Parts 4 and 9.
Experience managing engineering projects of varying sizes and complexity.
Demonstrated project management and business development experience.
Experience managing and mentoring technical staff.
Strong understanding of project budgets, schedules, utilization, and profitability.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong knowledge of structural engineering design and analysis software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of applicable legislation, guidelines, codes, and engineering standards.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
