The ideal candidate will have 3–7 years of experience in employment law and litigation and is looking to build a long-term practice in employment law. This posting is for an existing employment opportunity.Key ResponsibilitiesLabour and Employment LawAdvise employers and employees on workplace issues including employment standards, human rights, accommodation, discipline, terminations, and wrongful dismissalDraft employment agreements, workplace policies, severance packages, settlement agreements,
and other employment-related documentationNegotiate practical resolutions while advocating strongly for clients when litigation is requiredAdvise and support employers through the collective bargaining process, union certification drives and other labour relations mattersConduct impartial workplace investigations that are practical and defensible while remaining productive and proportionate to client needsLitigation & AdvocacyManage litigation files from initial consultation through resolution or trialPrepare pleadings, motion and application materials, affidavits, mediation briefs, and various other court documentsConduct discoveries, mediations, motions, hearings, and trialsConduct legal research and develop practical legal strategiesRepresent clients at the Ontario Labour Relations Board, Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, arbitrations, and the courtsClient & Practice ManagementManage client relationships and provide timely, practical legal adviceMaintain accurate docketing, file management, and billing practicesWork collaboratively with legal assistants, other lawyers and support staffContribute to the continued growth and reputation of the firmLL.B. or J.D.
