Job Description As a mechatronics designer,



you will be directly responsible for the design and development of custom force torque sensing systems used in a variety of robotic applications (ex. Surgical, Logistics, Humanoids, Space). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate design requirements into high-reliability and high-precision sensing systems. This role focuses primarily on detailed mechanical design, modelling, prototyping and validation of force sensing systems and adjacent mechanical systems.
Responsibilities Design and development of high-reliability, high-precision force-torque sensing systems for customer robotic applications throughout the product development cycle
Support prototype builds, calibration and validation activities of F/T sensing systems
Design, build and validation of high fidelity assembly and calibration fixtures
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Manufacturing, Electrical, Firmware, Software) to ensure design requirements are well defined and met
Collaborate closely with customers to define design requirements and integration of novel sensing systems within their applications
Travel to customer sites to support integration efforts as needed
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent
Minimum of 2-5 years experience in mechanical design, preferably within precision devices or a robotics hardware environment




Proven proficiency in CAD and FEA software (Onshape, ANSYS preferred)
Strong fundamental understanding of mechanics of materials, materials and design for manufacturing and assembly principles (DFMA)
Experience in mechanical design of small precision machined parts
Hands-on experience using prototype tools and equipment (ex. 3D printers, laser cutters, shop tools)
Experience in leveraging PLM systems to manage revisions, BOMs and engineering change processes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to document design process and articulate design decisions effectively
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality outputs
Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, including familiarity with verification and validation testing
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards
Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies (Arena PLM, GDrive, Jira , Scrum Methodology)
