POSITION SUMMARY In keeping with the mission statement of the hospital and the patient service unit, the nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Effectively uses the nursing process
Practices according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit
Provides appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family to promote or maintain wellness,



and to achieve an optimal quality of life
Is accountable for maintaining competence while developing the quality of his/ her professional nursing practice
QUALIFICATIONS Experience in paediatric psychiatry (Preferred)
Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
Current CPR Certification (Essential)
Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential)
Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential)
Demonstrated knowledge of mental health legislation, substitute decisions act, health care consent act, Personal Health Information Protection Act (Essential)
Demonstrated knowledge of treatment modalities and experience with crisis intervention other appropriate combinations of education and experience, along with the demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position, may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience (Essential)
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and establish therapeutic relationships with clients and team member (Essential)
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (Essential)
Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning (Essential)
Evidence of self‑motivation, enthusiasm, and flexibility (Essential)
Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3) (Essential)
Bilingual (English/French) (Preferred)
