David Nairne & Associates Ltd (DNA) is a multi-disciplinary firm of civil engineers, structural engineers, architects, planners, and project managers. With more than 50 years of experience and a team of 60+ professionals, we work on unique projects throughout BC and northern Canada. Our client base includes Federal, Provincial, Indigenous, and Métis governments, as well as government agencies and private sector developers. Many of our projects are in stunning, remote communities where our work has meaningful impact.
Job Summary
We are seeking an Intermediate or Senior Civil Engineer with experience in municipal infrastructure (water, wastewater, stormwater, roads) and land development to join our team. You’ll work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment - collaborating with planners, architects, and structural engineers under the mentorship of experienced professionals. Reporting Relationship
Reports to: Civil Engineering Lead
Primary Objectives
Deliver high-quality civil engineering solutions for municipal infrastructure and land development projects that meet client, regulatory, and community needs
Lead and contribute to projects from concept through construction, ensuring technical excellence, efficiency, and risk mitigation
Strengthen project delivery through effective coordination with internal disciplines, clients, and external partners
Support team development by mentoring junior staff and contributing to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment
Build and maintain strong client relationships, particularly within Indigenous, municipal, and remote community contexts
Contribute to the firm’s long-term growth through leadership, innovation, and consistent project performance
Job Responsibilities
Lead and support civil engineering design for municipal and land development projects
Mentor and support junior engineers and EITs through project work and reviews
Participate in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling
Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports
Coordinate with internal teams, subconsultants, and clients
Oversee contract administration and provide construction support
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
Registration as a P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
Minimum 5+ years of professional experience, including at least 2 years of work experience in Canada
Experience with MMCD contract administration and construction inspection experience
Experience working with Indigenous communities or on projects in remote communities is a strong asset
Strong communication, technical writing, and computer skills
Valid BC driver’s license

Our office is located in North Vancouver, walking distance from the SeaBus
The role is predominantly in-office, with hybrid flexibility after the probation period, based on demonstrated performance and role requirements.
Occasional travel may be required to remote communities in BC
Working Hours
Full-time position, typically 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
8 hours per day, core hours are 9 AM to 3 PM
May include evening or weekend work/ travel as required to meet client needs

*Note: Many of our projects are in remote and Northern communities. Travel may involve multi-day trips where returning home each evening is not possible. Applicants should be comfortable working in smaller and remote communities.
Compensation: $120,000 - $160,000
This salary range reflects a variety of considerations including experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and business needs. Actual offers will be based on a combination of these factors.
