Childcare Volunteers assist staff in providing high-quality care for children aged 2-12Y by helping monitor safety and engaging children through play in our Child Development Centre.
Responsibilities:
- Actively and enthusiastically participate with children 2-12Y
- Encourage a positive, play-based workplace for children
- Help plan and implement age-appropriate, play-based activities
- Greet parents and children in a friendly and welcoming manner
- Help ensure the safety of all children by being aware of situations and the environment
- Assist with cleaning the space and supplies
- Know how to assist in emergency procedures
- Check messages and communicate regularly with supervisors
- Log hours on the appropriate time sheet
- Be reliable and punctual (arrive ready for shift in proper uniform)
Qualities:
- Willing to learn new processes and follow procedures
- Enthusiastic, helpful, welcoming, and comfortable interacting with children and families
- Ability to engage with children 2-12Y
Work Term:
- September – June.
- Weekday evenings and weekend mornings
- 2 shifts/week. Shifts are 2-3 hours long
Qualifications/ Skills Required:
- Between 13 and 17 years of age.
- Completion of minimum Emergency First Aid with CPR C or Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion.
- Completion of Volunteer Training – Provided by Westside.
- Ability to engage with children 2-12Y
