Aquatic Swim Lesson Volunteers assist certified swim instructors with a variety of swim lessons for children and provide active supervision to ensure the safety of all participants.
Responsibilities:
- Support the assigned swim instructor with safety supervision and management of children during lessons
- Provide coaching, demonstrations, and support to children under instructor direction
- Set out lesson toys/equipment in the appropriate spots before class starts and put them away after lessons
- Model appropriate behavior during lessons: listen to the instructor, sit with the group during instructions, etc.
- Enforce Westside pool rules and know how to assist in emergency procedures
- Welcome participants and patrons, and direct questions to the Lifeguard/Instructor
- Check messages and communicate regularly with supervisors
- Log hours on the appropriate time sheet
- Be reliable and punctual (arrive ready for shift in proper uniform).
Qualities:
- Willing to learn current processes and follow procedures
- Enthusiastic, helpful, courteous, and comfortable interacting with children and families
WORK TERM:
- September – June.
- Evenings and weekends.
- 2 shifts/week. Shifts are 2-3 hours long.
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Between 13 and 17 years of age.
- Completion of minimum Emergency First Aid with CPR C or Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion Certification.
- Completion of Volunteer Training – Provided by Westside.
