The AMA is recruiting for the position of Administrator. As a member of the ADIUM Insurance Services team, the Administrator will play a critical role in ensuring that AMA initiatives are supported by providing guidance, and ongoing support related to insurance products, claims processes, and associated services to members.

The AMA has a hybrid work workplace. The successful candidate will be based out of our Edmonton or Calgary office and will have the opportunity to work from home but will be required to go into the office or attend in person when required.

Team Overview

ADIUM Insurance Services Inc. offers a broad range of voluntary insurance programs to AMA members, their families and clinic staff. Plans include; disability, office overhead expense, life, critical illness, accidental death & dismemberment and health and dental (AMA Health Benefits Trust Fund). ADIUM also administers the group life and disability insurance programs for the Professional Association of Residents of Alberta.

Position Overview





This position is responsible for the administration of insurance applications, initial claims reporting, and the provision of related service functions.

Key Responsibilities:

- New Business
- Process insurance applications – confirm applicant eligibility, pre-screen application, enter on system, remit to insurer, order appropriate medical requirements email/mail acknowledgement letter as appropriate
- Email/mail exclusions and amendments as appropriate and follow-up when necessary
- Issue approved coverage in Compass Financials (set up, billing and issue documents), assuring first that the underwriter’s decision notices and amendments are accurate and reflect coverage applied for; update application status in M-Files.
- Assemble insurance documents and mail to the insured after peer review.
- Claims
- Complete New Claims Questionnaire and send out claims package to claimant – for both Death and Disability/Parental Leave (email as appropriate)
- Send initial claim information to insurer and claims consultant – provide supporting documents as requested
- Provide support to claimant/family members as needed throughout the process
- Liaise between the claimant and the insurer when necessary.
- Other assigned duties
- Assist with business development and service initiatives by presenting ideas for discussion,



providing feedback based on insight gained from contact with members, and rolling out new practices and procedures in response to changing needs and growth
- Instructing/training new staff
- Assist with incoming phone calls and distribute to other staff as necessary
- Providing back-up coverage during unexpected absences and/or vacations

Education and Experience

- One-year post-secondary education in office administration.
- Completion of insurance courses will be required within one year of employment.
- Prior completion of related insurance courses will be considered in lieu of this requirement.

Skills

- Thorough knowledge of MS Office as well as an understanding of computer software and their applications
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to be flexible and work independently with minimal supervision and direction
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage workloads and work relationships

The salary for this role is between $54,092 - $70,319 per annum.
