Summary
Navius Research is a Vancouver-based consulting firm that conducts cutting-edge energy-economy modeling and policy analysis for high-profile clients across Canada. Our work plays a key role in informing the development of energy and climate policy.
We are looking for an analyst with strong quantitative and analytical skills to help maintain, operate and improve our modeling tools and the data that underpin them. Experience working with databases and large datasets would be particularly valuable.
The pay range for this position is $75,000 to $100,000+ annually.
Your responsibilities
- Work directly with senior staff to support the development, maintenance and operation of Navius’ gTech computable general equilibrium and linear optimization models
- Help maintain and improve the datasets and databases that support Navius’ modeling tools
- Review, interpret and troubleshoot quantitative results
- Support the communication of modeling results to clients through reports, presentations and other materials
Your talents
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to understand and solve complex quantitative problems. Experience with modeling, optimization, statistics and/or programming (e.g., GAMS, Python or R) would be particularly valuable.
- Experience working with large, complex datasets; experience with database management and tools such as SQL or Power Query is particularly valuable
- Interest in or knowledge of energy systems, economics or energy and climate policy
- High integrity and ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines
- Degree in economics, engineering, computer science or another relevant discipline, with a strong quantitative component
- Other assets include knowledge of Canada’s System of National Accounts and input-output tables, and experience with GIS
