As part of this work, the Alumni and Development team is seeking to hire an Annual Giving Specialist to support fundraising efforts and connect alumni and the community to UVic’s vision, as outlined in the 2023 strategic plan: Distinctly UVic.
Alumni Relations and Development is the division of the university responsible for creating strong relationships and building philanthropic commitment between the University of Victoria and its alumni and friends. The university's Development team has been growing steadily, raising over $30 million annually, and is in the early stages of a comprehensive campaign.
This position is eligible for a hybrid flex arrangement The salary range for this position is:
Recruitment range: $73,258 to $80,766. Starting salary is determined in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.
Performance range: Up to $95,260. Progression beyond the recruitment range is available through annual performance increases, in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.
Job Summary
Mandate:
The Annual Giving Specialist supports the planning, execution, and optimization of digital annual giving initiatives that advance UVic’s fundraising goals.
This position is a key component of the Annual Giving team, which contributes to the university’s broader advancement strategy by coordinating multi channel donor engagement tactics.
The Annual Giving Specialist strengthens donor participation and revenue through coordinated digital appeals, improved online fundraising tools, and enhanced online giving experiences.
Objectives:
- Implement and configure the Engaging Networks platform for Annual Giving email communications and donation forms to best meet institutional fundraising goals
- Support and optimize the use of online fundraising platforms for every day, peer-to-peer tribute and giving day fundraising.
- Collaborate across teams to refine and align digital engagement strategies that strengthen donor participation and overall revenue generation.
Job Requirements This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of relevant experience in digital engagement, with preference in a non-profit setting. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.
- Demonstrated digital fundraising experience, including creating and sending email appeals, donation form setup, and building behaviour based donor journeys.
- Demonstrated experience working with digital fundraising platforms, CRM systems, email marketing tools,
and data management environments.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and segmenting donor data and applying tailored ask strategies.
- Knowledge of best practices to provide accurate and consistent data for donor solicitation, including coding standards that support reliable reporting.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate tasks to meet project timelines and support team goals.
- Excellent attention to detail and proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify issues, analyze information, develop practical solutions and implement effective strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
- Ability to collaborate, build and maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals and work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of current digital fundraising practices and trends, including peer-to-peer fundraising.
- Technical knowledge of HTML, CSS and Microsoft Excel is an asset.
