Apprentice Sheet Metal Worker

Rahall HVAC is a growing mechanical contractor serving commercial, industrial, and residential clients across the Edmonton metro. We are looking for a motivated Entry-Level Sheet Metal Worker who wants to build a career in HVAC and sheet metal.

This is a true starter position, so no previous sheet metal or HVAC experience is required. You'll work alongside experienced tradespeople, learn the fundamentals of the trade, and gain hands-on experience on active jobsites while developing toward an apprenticeship and long-term career.

You'll support our field team with HVAC and sheet metal installation work while learning how the trade operates from the ground up. This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, mechanically inclined, comfortable with physical work, and ready to learn.

As your skills develop, you'll gain exposure to ductwork installation, tools and equipment, mechanical drawings, jobsite procedures, and commercial and residential HVAC systems.

Key Duties

- Assist Journeyman and Apprentice Sheet Metal Workers with HVAC installation work
- Help install, assemble, and handle ductwork and ventilation materials
- Measure, move, organize, and prepare materials for installation
- Learn the proper use of sheet metal tools and equipment
- Assist with loading and unloading tools, materials, and equipment
- Keep jobsites clean, organized, and safe
- Follow instructions from foremen, Journeymen, and project leadership
- Learn company procedures, jobsite safety requirements, and trade fundamentals
- Travel to jobsites throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area as required




- Work overtime when project schedules require it

Requirements

- No previous HVAC or sheet metal experience required
- Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's licence
- Clean driving record
- Reliable and able to consistently report to work
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Comfortable performing physical, hands-on work
- Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Safety-focused and dependable
- Interest in pursuing a career or apprenticeship in the sheet metal/HVAC trade

Apprentice (1st2nd year): $21$28/hr

Apprentice (3rd4th year): $28$34/hr

Journeyman: $38$48/hr

Annual equivalent (JM, 40 hrs): $79,000$100,000 before overtime

About the Role

Rahall HVAC is a growing mechanical contractor serving commercial, industrial, and residential clients across the Edmonton metro. We are looking for skilled Sheet Metal Workers at all ticket levels to join our expanding field team on HVAC installation and service work.

Key Duties

- Fabricate, install, and modify HVAC ductwork systems to drawings and specs
- Install commercial and residential forced-air and ventilation systems
- Operate sheet metal shop equipment: press brake, shear, plasma cutter
- Read and work from mechanical drawings, blueprints, and job specifications
- Coordinate with PM, foreman, and other trades on commercial projects
- Maintain a safe, clean worksite per OH&S; and company standards

Requirements

- Alberta Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker certificate, or registered apprentice with Blue Book
- Experience with commercial HVAC duct fabrication and installation
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and job specs
- Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's licence
- Reliable, team-oriented, and safety-focused
- Refrigeration or A2L refrigerant experience is an asset
