Job Overview

Aquatic Construction Technician – Skilled Trades

About Aqua-Pro Builders

Aqua-Pro Builders Ltd. is a specialized aquatic construction contractor working on commercial, municipal, hospitality and high-end aquatic projects throughout Western Canada.

Our work goes far beyond traditional pool construction. We build, renovate and commission complex aquatic facilities involving commercial mechanical systems, PVC/CPVC piping, filtration and chemical systems, forming and concrete work, rebar, tile, specialty finishes and aquatic equipment.

We are looking for a skilled, dependable tradesperson who wants to bring their existing construction experience into a specialized industry and continue developing their skills.

Previous pool construction experience is an asset, but it is not required. Experience in plumbing, carpentry, concrete/forming, tile setting, mechanical installation or general construction can provide an excellent foundation for this position.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Aquatic Construction Technician, you will work alongside our team through multiple stages of aquatic construction and renovation.

Responsibilities may include

- Commercial pool mechanical piping and equipment installation
- Installation and assembly of pumps, filters, heaters, chemical systems and other aquatic equipment
- PVC and CPVC piping, fitting and supports
- Concrete forming and rebar installation
- Pool tile, coping and specialty finish preparation and installation
- Layout and measurement from construction drawings
- Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and equipment documentation
- Pool renovations, repairs and restoration work
- Demolition and removal of existing aquatic systems and finishes
- Equipment-room construction and organization
- Pressure testing and preparation of mechanical systems for commissioning
- Troubleshooting and problem solving in the field
- Safe operation of hand and power tools

- Material handling and general construction duties as required
- Maintaining clean, organized and professional job sites

This is a multi-disciplinary construction position. Our employees are expected to work across different aspects of a project rather than remain limited to a single trade.

Who We’re Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Plumbing or mechanical piping
- Carpentry and concrete forming
- Commercial or industrial construction
- Tile setting
- Concrete and masonry
- Pool or aquatic construction
- Mechanical equipment installation
- Construction renovations and restoration

You do not need experience in all of these areas. The right candidate has a solid construction background, is mechanically inclined, takes pride in quality workmanship and is interested in learning the specialized skills involved in commercial aquatic construction.

What Matters to Us

We value people who

- Take pride in doing things properly
- Can work independently once given clear direction
- Are comfortable reading measurements and construction drawings
- Have strong mechanical and problem-solving abilities
- Are willing to learn unfamiliar systems and construction methods
- Work effectively as part of a crew
- Maintain professional standards on active commercial job sites
- Understand that quality and attention to detail matter
- Are dependable and show up ready to work
- Are comfortable working in a fast-moving construction environment

Travel Requirements This position requires regular travel to projects throughout British Columbia, Alberta and other locations in Western Canada.

Projects may require employees to remain out of town for extended periods.

Candidates must be comfortable with travel and extended project stays. This is an important part of the position and should be considered before applying.

Qualifications

- Previous skilled construction experience preferred
- Valid driver’s licence preferred
- Ability to safely use common construction hand and power tools
- Ability to perform physically demanding construction work
- Ability to accurately measure, layout and complete detailed construction tasks
- Plumbing, carpentry, tile, concrete or mechanical experience is a strong asset
- Pool construction experience is an asset but not required
- Relevant apprenticeship, trade certification or Red Seal qualification is an asset but not required

Why Aqua-Pro? Aquatic construction is a specialized field that combines several traditional trades into one challenging industry.

For the right person, this position provides the opportunity to expand beyond a single trade and develop experience in commercial aquatic mechanical systems, construction, renovation and commissioning.

Our projects range from recent aquatic facilities to major renovations and technically challenging commercial and municipal installations.

We’re looking for people who want to become highly capable aquatic construction professionals—not simply fill a labour position.

If you have a strong construction background, enjoy solving problems and want to develop specialized skills in an industry where quality workmanship matters, we’d like to hear from you.

Pay: $23.00-$45.00 per hour

Benefits

- Dental care
