About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing cultural resource management (CRM) organization providing archaeological, heritage, and environmental services throughout British Columbia. They are seeking an experienced Archaeological Supervisor / Field Director to join their team in Williams Lake, BC.

This role is ideal for an archaeology professional with experience leading field crews and conducting archaeological and heritage resource management projects within British Columbia. The successful candidate will oversee field operations, mentor junior staff, contribute to business development initiatives, and support the delivery of high-quality archaeological services.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify, assess, and document areas of archaeological potential, archaeological sites, and traditional use sites.
- Collect, manage, and maintain field and project data.
- Lead archaeological impact assessments, preliminary field reconnaissance surveys, post-impact assessments, and monitoring programs.
- Conduct archaeological monitoring activities in accordance with applicable regulations and project requirements.
- Prepare permit applications, technical reports, proposals, and other project documentation.
- Collaborate with Indigenous communities, clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Support business development initiatives and contribute to client relationship management.
- Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior team members.
- Maintain current knowledge of legislation, policies, and best practices related to cultural heritage and archaeology in British Columbia.
- Support project planning, logistics, health and safety programs, equipment maintenance, and field operations.
- Perform additional duties as required to support project and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

- Field Director status within the Interior Plateau region is preferred.
- Consideration will also be given to candidates with Field Director status in the Sub-Arctic/Boreal or Northwest Coast regions,



or those with significant field supervisory experience within the Interior Plateau.
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related discipline such as Environmental Studies, Geography, Geology, Forestry, Indigenous Studies, or Biology.
- Minimum of two years of Cultural Resource Management (CRM) experience in British Columbia.
- Experience identifying traditional use sites, culturally modified trees (CMTs), lithic artifacts, and other cultural heritage features.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with Indigenous communities and cultural heritage management teams.
- Knowledge of archaeological field methods, including pedestrian surveys, subsurface testing, excavation, mapping, artifact cataloguing, and data collection.
- Strong technical writing, reporting, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software applications.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driving record.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Certifications The following certifications are considered assets:

- Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 with Transportation Endorsement
- WHMIS
- S100 / S185
- ATV / UTV / Trailer Operation
- H2S Alive
- Bear Awareness
- Confined Space Entry
- Ground Disturbance

Training may be provided for qualified candidates who do not currently hold these certifications.

Working Conditions

- Regular fieldwork involving hiking up to approximately 10Km per day in varying terrain and weather conditions.
- Work may be performed in remote locations and under challenging environmental conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold temperatures.
- Camp-based assignments and rotational schedules may be required throughout the field season.
- Shared accommodations may be provided during field assignments.
- Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required based on project demands.

Location: Williams Lake, BC

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Compensation: $32–$44+ per hour
