Cochrane Supply continues to grow as we seek an Area Market Leader for our Canada Controls division in the Greater Toronto Area.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Area Market Leader will be heavily focused on customer service and will be responsible for customer relationships and sales growth for existing customer accounts as well as developing new accounts in the HVAC, Building Automation, and Controls industry. Other duties include, but not limited to:
- Handle day to day customer activities for assigned customers and prospects.
- Servicing customer orders & technical needs.
- Developing relationships with individual purchasers, engineers, and large end user clients.
- Develop marketing strategies for new products with Customers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with purchasing contacts.
- Investigate and resolve customer concerns with quality, delivery, and application of product.
- New Product Planning - Investigate new products for the area, test viability, and integrate into market with Product Manager.
- Promoting products, solutions, and services to customers.
- Manage and grow customer base by traveling throughout assigned territory to call on current and prospective customers.
- Visit job sites as needed to help determine customer control needs.
- Quote prices, credit terms and take off jobs for customers.
- Negotiate mutually beneficial agreements with large customers.
- Prepare reports of business transactions and turn in monthly expense reports.
- Work with inside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.
- Coordinate customer training.
- Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into accounting system and CRM.
- Join industry trade groups and attend functions (i.e.: ASHRAE, etc.).
- Take continuing education classes to further industry or product knowledge either through vendors, outside sources, or internally.
- Grow sales territory with the eventual goal of establishing a storefront in the market of interest.
- Identify and establish new customers within the market of interest.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Setting & Schedule
This is a full-time position, working minimum 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, and commuting on the road to meet with existing and new customers on an as needed basis.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, HVAC controls, computer science or related field
- Commercial mechanical, electrical, HVAC, controls or lighting experience
Skills and Competencies:
- Candidate must have excellent phone and customer service skills with ability to multi-task
- Position requires excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, computer skills, and be self-motivated
- Candidates must be professional, have a positive attitude with effective verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of market research, sales, and negotiating principles.
- Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to build relationships.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Business acumen.
- Enthusiastic, competitive, and passionate.
Compensation & Benefits:
This is a salaried position, paid bi-weekly, ranging between $90,000 and $150,000 per year. Starting salary is negotiable and based on qualifications experience.

The Company establishes annual employee bonuses determined based on key performance indicators (KPIs) specific to this role, as well as the overall performance of the company. Performance is reviewed annually. Final bonus amount is dependent on both individual achievements and the company’s financial results. The bonus program is discretionary and subject to change at any time at the company's sole discretion.
