Job Summary Assistant Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to oversee all financial operations within our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accounting activities and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role requires experience in data entry into Quick Books Desktop.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our accounting and finance team. This is a hands-on position suited to an accounting professional who is comfortable managing day-to-day accounting functions while also supporting financial reporting, month-end close, cash flow management, and internal controls.

The successful candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, excellent organizational skills, and extensive experience working with QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft Excel.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and oversee the accurate entry and processing of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.




- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records within QuickBooks Desktop and Service Titan Software.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
- Perform bank, credit card, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Review accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
- Assist with and help lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and other month-end adjustments.
- Assist with banking, payment processing, and financial administration.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, accuracy, and efficiency.Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar role.
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop --> QuickBooks Online
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience using AI tools to work efficiently
- Knowledge of Service Titan software a plus.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial statement preparation.
- Strong experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger accounting.




- Demonstrated experience with account reconciliations and month-end closing procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced workplace and taking ownership of responsibilities.

What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is organized, accountable, dependable, and hands-on. This position requires an individual who is willing to dig into the details, identify discrepancies, solve problems, and help ensure that the accounting department operates accurately and efficiently.

The Assistant Controller will work closely with management and play an important role in strengthening our financial reporting, accounting processes, and internal controls as the company continues to grow.

Experience in construction, mechanical contracting, service, or a project-based accounting environment would be considered a strong asset.

CPA designation or progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required.

Salary range has upside potential for the right candidate.
