Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a part-time Assistant Rowing Coach.
Job Details
Location: F&M; Campus - Lancaster, PA
Classification: Part-time, Non-Exempt
Schedule: To be determined by the supervisor.
Reports to: Head Rowing Coach
Department: Athletics & Recreation
The Assistant Rowing Coach is responsible for providing effective support and assistance of the rowing program. This position focuses on the development of student-athletes, prioritizing academic success, athletic excellence, and personal growth.
The Assistant
Coach is responsible for on-court/field coaching, recruitment, compliance monitoring, and administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
Essential Functions
- Provide instruction, mentoring, coaching, evaluation and guidance to student-athletes. Determine appropriate coaching methods and strategies in consultation with the Head Coach.
- Provide assistance in scheduling and organizing games & meets. Develop and communicate practice schedules.
- Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of a standard of performance consistent with the College's goals of academic and athletic excellence. Promote academic achievement among athletes.
- Assist in coordination and logistics of official and unofficial campus visits by prospective student athletes. Maintain communications with parents and students as directed by the Head Coach.
- Assure facilities and equipment are prepared in advance of practice sessions and games/meets/matches. Report & monitor proper maintenance of equipment and practice and contest facilities to ensure safe playing conditions.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience coaching rowing programs.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive).
- Current CPR, AED, and first aid certification required.
- Must pass the NCAA Division III Coaches Test.
- Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.
- Evidence of a commitment to community and belonging.
- Successful interview.
- Successful completion of background checks.
