M.E.M Auto Clinic & Rated M Motorsport – Oakville, ON
Full time | In-Person | OMVIC Certification Required
Two Dealerships. 35–40+ Vehicles. 5–10+ Leads Per Day. One Salesperson.
M.E.M Auto Clinic and Rated M Motorsport are two independent automotive businesses located directly next door to each other in Oakville, and we are looking for one motivated Automotive Sales Representative / Assistant Manager to handle sales for both dealerships.
This is not a traditional franchise dealership sales position.
You will be the only dedicated salesperson.
You will not be competing with five, ten or fifteen other sales representatives for leads, walk-ins, appointments or the best inventory.
Instead, you will have access to the combined inventory of two dealerships, totaling approximately 35–40+ advertised vehicles at any given time.
You will also have a steady flow of approximately 5–10+ incoming sales leads per day between both businesses through:
- AutoTrader
- Facebook Marketplace
- Phone inquiries
- Email and website inquiries
- Repeat customers
- Referrals
- Walk-in traffic
These are established businesses with real existing sales volume. Based on our actual month-to-month sales history, the combined dealerships consistently generate enough business for 15+ vehicle sales per month, with the potential for considerably more when every lead is properly followed up.
We provide the inventory.
We provide the advertising.
We provide the leads.
Your job is to work them and close deals.
Compensation
This position offers
- Guaranteed base pay
- Flat bonus for every vehicle sold
- Additional flat bonus for vehicles sold at full asking price
- Flat bonus for every warranty sold
- Flat bonus for financed deals
- No complicated percentage-based commission or gross-profit calculations
- Strong earning potential for someone who can consistently follow up and close
The guaranteed base pay also compensates for the Assistant Manager, administrative and body shop responsibilities included in the position. This is an opportunity for someone who is hungry and wants to make money.
The more opportunities you work and the more vehicles you sell, the more you earn.
Your Main Responsibility: Own the Sales Desk
We are looking for someone who can come in, learn our operation and take ownership of the sales process.
You will be responsible for:
- Answering incoming sales calls for both dealerships
- Responding quickly to new leads
- Managing separate sales email accounts for both dealerships
- Responding to AutoTrader inquiries
- Responding to Facebook Marketplace inquiries
- Responding to website and email leads
- Following up with customers consistently
- Following up with unsold showroom customers
- Following up after test drives
- Booking appointments
- Confirming appointments
- Greeting customers
- Showing vehicles
- Going on test drives with customers
- Explaining vehicle features and history
- Presenting warranty options
- Identifying financing opportunities
- Completing financing applications through Dealertrack
- Asking for the sale
- Negotiating with customers
- Taking deposits and closing deals
- Keeping leads and appointments organized
- Following each customer from initial inquiry through delivery
You should be comfortable handling a normal automotive sales transaction from the first phone call to asking the customer for the deposit. We Want a Self-Starter
This is one of the most important parts of the position.
We are not looking for someone who needs to be given a list of tasks every morning or constantly told who to call next.
If an AutoTrader lead comes in, respond to it.
If the phone rings, answer it.
If yesterday's appointment didn't show up, call them.
If someone test drove a vehicle and didn't buy, follow up.
If there are old leads sitting in the system, work them.
If your appointments are quiet, create new ones.
We want someone who understands that follow-up is part of selling and who naturally looks for the next opportunity instead of waiting to be told what to do.
Management from both dealerships will be available whenever you genuinely need assistance with:
- Difficult negotiations
- Trade appraisals
- Deal approvals
- Financing
- Unusual situations
- Helping close a difficult customer
We will support you when you need us. What we do not want is someone who requires a manager beside them throughout every normal sales interaction.
Think of this position as running your own sales desk with two managers behind you when you need them.
Assistant Manager / Body Shop Responsibilities
This role is not exclusively vehicle sales.
During periods when you are not actively dealing with sales customers, you will also assist M.E.M Auto Clinic with daily operations and its body shop department.
Responsibilities may include
- Assisting customers with body shop estimates
- Basic administrative work
- Answering customer inquiries
- Helping coordinate repairs
- Picking up and dropping off customer vehicles
- Moving vehicles when required
- Helping organize incoming and outgoing vehicles
- Assisting management with day-to-day operations
This portion of the job is what the guaranteed base pay is intended to compensate for. When sales customers and sales leads require attention, however,
selling vehicles is a major priority.
Schedule
Regular hours are
9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Schedule
- Five days per week
- Saturdays required
- One weekday off
- Every Sunday off
You will have one regular weekday off in addition to Sundays.
Requirements
OMVIC certification is required.
We are looking for someone with:
- Automotive sales experience or strong relevant sales experience
- Ability to independently handle a customer from inquiry through closing
- Strong telephone skills
- Excellent follow-up habits
- Confidence asking for the sale
- Confidence asking for a deposit
- Strong communication skills
- Good computer and email skills
- Ability to use or quickly learn Dealertrack
- Good organizational skills
- Valid Ontario driver's licence
- Driving record suitable for customer test drives and vehicle pickup/drop-off
- Ability to work independently
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Robust work ethic
- Sense of urgency
- Reliable attendance
Previous experience at a franchised automotive dealership is an asset, but it is not required. Independent dealership experience is also valuable.
More important than where you previously worked is whether you understand automotive sales and know how to close.
Who Will Succeed Here?
You will likely do very well in this position if you are:
- Hungry
- Motivated by money
- Competitive
- Organized
- Independent
- Comfortable being busy
- Excellent on the phone
- Persistent with follow-up
- Confident with customers
- Comfortable asking for the sale
- Comfortable asking customers for deposits
- Able to manage several leads and appointments at once
- Someone who takes initiative without waiting for instructions
You will have something most automotive salespeople do not have: Two dealerships.
35–40+ advertised vehicles.
5–10+ incoming leads per day.
Established monthly sales volume.
Multiple advertising channels.
And no other dedicated salesperson competing with you for those opportunities.
If you are currently working in a larger dealership and are tired of fighting an entire showroom for leads and inventory, this may be an excellent opportunity.
