About the role:
The Bail Verification and Supervision Program is responsible for expediting bail and court proceedings; reducing failures to appear through supervision of clients and assisting clients to initiate steps to remedy issues and problems that may have contributed to the alleged misconduct.
In this role you will provide enhanced mental health services for clients with severe and persistent mental health and addiction issues. You will be responsible for thoroughly assessing the complex needs of client populations and developing creative plans of supervision, which may include but are not limited to, working directly with the clients in the community to access housing, medical services and treatment/counselling etc. The goal of the enhanced bail supervision is to increase appearance and compliance rates and ultimately decrease the likelihood of reoffending while on bail.
As the successful candidate, you have:
- Updated clear Criminal Reference Check required for working with the vulnerable sector.
- Experience working with vulnerable clients in the criminal justice system
- Experience supervising clients with court-imposed conditions
- Experience working with clients with complex mental health and/or addictions
- Strong Organizational and written communication skills
- Strong interviewing skills
- Practical knowledge of the Bail Process as well as Bail Supervision in Canada.
- The ability to work independently and as a team.
- The skills required to work with a variety of community partners including but not limited to the Local Police Agencies, The Crown’s office, Defense Counsel, Probation, CMHA, Etc.
- Bilingualism (English/French) would be considered an asset
