Job Summary The CNC Band Saw Operator is responsible for operating CNC band saws and other cutting equipment, handling materials, and ensuring that production targets and quality standards are met. This role requires precision, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently under supervision.

Reports To: Processing lead

Qualifications/Requirements

- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with steel in a fabrication or production environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and use precision measuring tools (tape, micrometer, protractor, etc.) in both imperial and metric units.
- Skilled in operating CNC band saws, overhead cranes, and forklifts for material handling and cutting operations.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and OHSA compliance, including PPE use (steel-toed boots) and safe operation of all shop equipment.
- Physically capable of handling and lifting heavy steel materials with good stamina and awareness of proper rigging techniques.
- Basic computer literacy for CNC interface and production entry; familiarity with ERP (JobBOSS²) is an asset.
- Solid attention to detail, problem-solving ability,



and communication skills; capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work off-hours or overtime as required.

Responsibilities

- Operate CNC band saws and related cutting equipment according to fabrication drawings and job specifications.
- Handle materials efficiently and safely, ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and maintaining a clean, organized work area.
- Inspect and verify materials before and after cutting to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
- Maintain a steady work pace to meet or exceed daily production targets while producing consistent, high-quality results.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on saws and equipment; promptly report any malfunctions or safety concerns to the processing lead.
- Record material usage and assist with basic inventory tracking or material traceability as required.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and support overall production efficiency.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the processing lead.
