CHANCE OVERVIEW The Vancouver Club is looking for a full-time Banquet Captain to Supervise our world class team. The candidate will be dedicated to exceeding expectations of both our members and guests to ensure the highest level of service is consistently provided. Teamwork is the key to success in providing a warm and personable experience, the role is to provide excellent guest service with the support of the Food & Beverage team.
The Captain will have a strong desire to learn and develop within the hospitality industry. The club looks for career focused professionals that are excited to experience all this industry has to offer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Know the Club standards of service, including all settings and types of service.
- Be familiar with banquet menus and prices.
- Hold pre-function meetings, and check staffing and menus, prior to events.
- Requisition liquor for all banquet bars and maintain proper control over banquet beverage service.
- Inspect the set-up of meetings and banquet functions, checking them against the Banquet Event Order.
- Assist in set up of audio/visual, as necessary
- Supervise and assist with the set-up of assigned catered functions, ensuring that the Club’s standards are met,
and advance preparation for service is adequate to allow the set up to be in place in advance of the function occurring.
- Act as liaison between Catering / Housekeeping / Kitchen / Management / Stewards / Concierge - Supervise banquet staff, as directed by the Banquet Service Manager. - Assign side-work duties and stations to all servers.
- Monitor ongoing functions throughout assigned shift.
- Coordinate and provide efficient service to our guests once a function begins and throughout. Assist in service of functions as required.
- Respond to guests needs in a timely manner. Communicate problems/issues to the Service manager or appropriate department manager.
- Supervise and assist with the break down after the completion of functions to ensure that all equipment and supplies are stored properly.
- Perform all other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 years experience in Food and Beverage Service
- Minimum 2 years leadership experience
- Computer Knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop team to ensure accomplishment of goals
- Demonstrate superior customer service philosophy
- Will be required to maintain a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

COMPENSATION
Hourly wage $24 - 29 per hour
