Standard Motors Autobody is looking for an organized, customer-focused and motivated Assistant Body Shop Manager to join our team in Swift Current.
This is a key position within our collision centre and an excellent prospect for someone who wants to build or continue a career in collision repair management, estimating and customer service.
Working closely with our experienced Body Shop Manager and skilled body technician team, the Assistant Manager will help oversee the day-to-day operation of the shop, manage customer and insurance files, prepare estimates, coordinate repairs and help ensure vehicles move efficiently through the repair process.
Previous autobody, estimating, dealership or SGI claims experience is a strong asset. We are also willing to consider someone with strong automotive, customer service or management experience who has the ability and desire to learn the collision repair industry.
What You'll DoEstimating & Insurance Claims
- Prepare and review collision repair estimates.
- Work with SGI and other insurance providers throughout the claims and repair process.
- Complete required insurance documentation, supplements and supporting paperwork.
- Document vehicle damage accurately, including photographs and repair requirements.
- Communicate with insurance adjusters when additional damage or repair requirements are identified.
- Help ensure repair files are complete, accurate and properly documented.
Customer Service
- Be a primary point of contact for customers throughout their repair.
- Explain estimates, insurance processes and repair timelines in a clear and professional manner.
- Schedule estimates, vehicle drop-offs and customer pick-ups.
- Provide customers with repair updates and address questions or concerns.
- Help deliver a professional customer experience from the initial estimate through final vehicle delivery.
Shop & Production Coordination
- Work closely with the Body Shop Manager to coordinate the daily workflow of the shop.
- Help schedule repairs based on technician capacity, parts availability and repair requirements.
- Communicate repair priorities and changes with technicians and other team members.
- Monitor jobs in progress and help identify delays or issues before they affect promised completion dates.
- Assist with parts coordination and ensure required parts are available when needed.
- Help coordinate sublet repairs and outside services when required.
- Assist with final repair file review and vehicle delivery.
Assistant Management Responsibilities
- Support the Body Shop Manager with the overall day-to-day operation of the collision centre.
- Help maintain an organized, productive and qualified shop environment.
- Assist with workflow planning, scheduling and production management.
- Help ensure company, insurance and repair procedures are followed.
- Assist in resolving customer concerns and operational issues.
- Help maintain strong communication between the front office, technicians, parts department, insurance providers and customers.
- Take on additional management responsibilities when the Body Shop Manager is unavailable.
- Contribute ideas and solutions that improve efficiency, customer satisfaction and shop performance.
What We're Looking For The right person for this position is someone who can balance people, paperwork and production.
You should have
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple repair files and priorities at the same time.
- Strong computer skills and willingness to learn collision estimating and management software.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, customers and insurance representatives.
- A practical, problem-solving approach.
- Ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic.
- Valid Saskatchewan driver's licence.
Experience That Would Be an Asset Previous experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Collision repair estimating.
- SGI insurance claims.
- Autobody or collision repair.
- Automotive dealership service or parts.
- Automotive service advising.
- Insurance claims or adjusting.
- Customer service management.
- Shop or production management.
