As a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, the Business Clerk provides clerical, administrative, and business support to patients, nurses, and clinicians in outpatient clinics.
The Business
Clerk processes referrals; schedules and changes appointments; registers patients; schedules physician clinics; monitors the inventory of supplies and places orders; and relays and processes information using a range of communication technologies. Functions according to the for Business Clerks.
- Graduate of community college secretarial or office administration program or equivalent office experience
- Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated knowledge equivalent to the Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 acquired in a different Business Clerk position, which may be subject to testing
- Keyboarding 40 w.p.m.
- Proficient knowledge, skill and ability in using Microsoft Office software: PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability in EPIC Scheduling and Registration; Meditech; Supply Ordering
- Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, public relations and problem-solving skills
- Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
- Ability to liaise with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
- Ability to appreciate the confidential nature of the position
- Ability to sit for long periods, repetitive reaching, repetitive bending and walking
- Experience working in an out-patient clinic would be an asset
- Knowledge, skill,
and experience in office procedures and equipment use

Article 2.07 and Article 13, PIPSC RT Collective Agreement The Thrombosis Services at the Juravinski Site is a regional service with referrals coming from family physicians and specialists in the hospital and the community. The clinic provides a range of services to support quality thromboembolic care. Operating during regular business hours, the Thrombosis Clinic provides resources and facilities for consultations, examinations, diagnostic tests, tissue specimens; wound care; and blood specimen collection.
Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team of Business Clerks, Health Care Aids, Physician Specialists and Residents, and Registered Nurses.
