Position Summary

EM Dynamics role is seeking a highly organized and proactive Purchaser to support our growing manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for sourcing off-the-shelf (OTS) components, coordinating outside processing services, supporting new product introductions (NPI), obtaining competitive quotations, and ensuring material availability to meet production schedules.

The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Planning, Production, Suppliers,



and Quality to ensure new and existing products move efficiently from concept through production while maintaining cost, quality, and delivery objectives.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

Purchasing

- Source and purchase off-the-shelf (OTS) components.
- Issue and manage purchase orders.
- Monitor supplier acknowledgements and delivery commitments.
- Expedite critical materials to support production requirements.
- Develop alternate sources to reduce risk and lead times.
- Maintain accurate supplier and purchasing data within the ERP system.

Supplier Management:

- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Evaluate supplier performance for quality, delivery, and cost.
- Resolve supplier issues affecting production.
- Support supplier negotiations on pricing, lead times, and service levels.

Quoting:

- Obtain supplier quotations for production and engineering requirements.
- Analyze pricing and recommend cost-effective sourcing strategies.
- Compare multiple supplier quotations.
- Maintain quotation history and supplier cost records.

Outside Services: Coordinate all outsourced manufacturing services including:

- Machining
- Painting
- Powder coating
- Plating
- Heat treating
- Laser cutting
- Welding
- Fabrication
- Assembly
- Other subcontract manufacturing operations

Responsibilities include:

- Issuing outside service purchase orders.
- Tracking supplier progress.
- Coordinating shipments to and from vendors.
- Ensuring outside processing meets production schedules.

New Product Introduction (NPI): Support Engineering during product launches by:





- Sourcing prototype and production components.
- Identifying qualified suppliers.
- Obtaining quotations.
- Reviewing supplier lead times.
- Identifying supply chain risks.
- Supporting first article builds.
- Coordinating engineering changes with suppliers.
- Assisting in transitioning products into production.

Cross Functional Support:

Work closely with:

- Engineering
- Planning
- Logistics
- Production
- Quality
- Materials Management

To ensure material shortages are minimized and customer deliveries remain on schedule.

Qualifications

Required:

- 3-5+ years purchasing experience in manufacturing.
- Experience purchasing mechanical and electrical components.
- Experience with OTS industrial products.
- Experience coordinating outside processing suppliers.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Strong supplier negotiation skills.
- ERP/MRP system experience.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Robust organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

- APICS or PMAC certification.
- Experience with ISO 9001 manufacturing environments.
- Drawing interpretation.
- BOM understanding.
- Experience in automation or custom machine building.
