Position Overview

We are looking for a professional, reliable Security Guard to join our team in at the MHC Brooks Campus for a consistent, full-time evening schedule. Working Monday through Friday from 16:00 to 22:00 (4:00 PM to 10:00 PM), you will serve as the primary point of contact for safety, customer service, and emergency response at your assigned site. This role is ideal for individuals who value a predictable weekday schedule and want to make a meaningful difference in the safety and well-being of their local community. At Paladin Security, we believe security is about people. In this role, you will do much more than monitor property—you will build positive relationships with clients and visitors, assist people in need, and act as a calm, reassuring presence when unexpected situations arise.

Daily Responsibilities

- Provide outstanding customer service, directions, and assistance to clients, visitors, and patrons.
- Conduct regular, proactive foot patrols across the site to maintain safety, monitor building conditions, and address any policy breaches.
- Respond promptly and professionally to security alarms, medical incidents, and emergency situations.
- De-escalate tense or crisis situations calmly, using communication skills to resolve conflicts before they escalate.
- Liaise effectively with emergency services, including police, fire, and paramedics, when they are called to the site.
- Manage crowd control and professionally request trespassers to leave the property when necessary.
- Write clear, objective,

and detailed reports for incidents, daily logs, and liability concerns using computer applications.
- Utilize two-way radios and mobile applications to maintain constant communication with the team and dispatch.
- Provide basic first aid and emergency medical response to anyone on-site when required.
- Manage lost-and-found items and respond to inquiries from the public.

Required Qualifications

- A High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- A valid Alberta Security License, or the immediate ability to obtain one.
- Strong physical stamina, including the ability to walk 18 to 20 kilometers and climb multiple flights of stairs over the course of a shift.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to write clear and detailed incident reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a natural focus on customer service.
- The ability to make quick, sound decisions and maintain composure under pressure with minimal direct supervision.

Preferred Skills and Experience

- An unrestricted Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License is considered a solid asset.
- Prior experience in security, customer service, hospitality, or community outreach.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
