Working in partnership with a major provider in the realm of adult online professional education, Lumina Datamatics is seeking Canadian Certified Plumbing Instructors to assist us with course development. SMEs with teaching and curriculum development experience are encouraged to apply.

Day-to-Day Tasks:

Our consultant will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating an online course on becoming a plumbing professional that was originally developed for the US market. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles, tools, materials, and techniques used in the plumbing and piping industry. Learners develop foundational technical knowledge and practical, job-ready skills in plumbing systems, installation practices, safety procedures, and industry standards to prepare for entry-level employment and apprenticeship opportunities.

Further, the consultant will assess the course for relevance and alignment with Canadian market needs, including current best practice, educational requirements, and adherence to Canadian certification and licensure requirements. A detailed understanding of this topic from a Canadian perspective will be important.

Credentials:

Education/Certification:

- Provincial Certificate of Qualification as a Plumber with Red Seal Endorsement (RSE) preferred.

Professional Experience:

- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive plumbing experience in Canada across residential, commercial, or institutional projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in the National Plumbing Code of Canada, provincial building and plumbing codes,



occupational health and safety requirements, and Canadian apprenticeship standards.
- Experience supervising apprentices, conducting technical training, or teaching in a post-secondary plumbing program.

Analytical and Communication Skills:

- Ability to analyze and assess online courses for pedagogical effectiveness, relevance, and currentness.
- Strong written communication skills for preparing a detailed analysis report with clear recommendations.
- Experience developing, reviewing, or teaching online or classroom-based plumbing curriculum, assessments, and technical learning resources.
- Experience collaborating with instructional designers to produce learner-centered educational materials.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills with the ability to translate complex plumbing concepts into clear instructional content.
- Experience with Red Seal-aligned curriculum or apprenticeship competency frameworks is considered a strong asset.

Technical Knowledge:

- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning tools (e.g., Moodle, Brightspace, Blackboard, Canvas) preferred.

Consulting or Advisory Experience (Preferred):





- Experience providing expert recommendations to educational institutions, government bodies, or corporate learning teams.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a consulting capacity.

Timeline: 8/24 – 9/18

Hours per week:

We estimate 10-15 flexible hours of their time per week will be needed.

Compensation specs:

We are able to offer an hourly rate of $75 CAD.
