Position Vacancy: Plant Maintenance

Position: Full-Time Painter, Carpenter (UNIFOR Service)

Posting Period: August 19, 2026 – August 24, 2026

Hours of Work: MON - FRI 0800- 1600

Location: WRHN @ Midtown

Position Summary

The Carpenter/Painter performs skilled carpentry, painting, maintenance, and repair work to support a safe, functional, and professional healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities include repairing and installing doors, frames, hardware, cabinetry, millwork, wall systems, ceilings, flooring, and protective wall coverings; preparing and painting interior and exterior surfaces; completing drywall repairs and finishing work; responding to service requests, preventative maintenance activities, emergency repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety, accessibility, infection control, and regulatory requirements. Regular attendance, schedule flexibility, and the ability to work overtime and respond to emergency situations are essential requirements of this role.

Position Requirements:

- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Journeyperson Carpenter,



Painter, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial, institutional, or healthcare facility maintenance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of carpentry, painting, drywall, finishing, and general building maintenance practices.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, occupational health and safety legislation, accessibility requirements, and infection prevention practices.

• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, manuals, and work orders. • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a Facilities Operations team.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting, climbing ladders, working at heights, and operating tools and equipment safely.
- Demonstrated commitment to reliable attendance, schedule flexibility, overtime availability, and emergency response support in a 24/7 healthcare environment.
