Atikameg Child & Family Services Society (ACFSS) is a Delegated First Nation Child & Family Organization that was created to promote a healthy and self-sustaining community, utilize a holistic (body, mind, and spirit) approach in meeting the needs of the children, youth, and families from Whitefish Lake First Nation.
The Atikameg
Child & Family Services Society’s main office is in Atikameg, Alberta with a sub-office located in Edmonton, Alberta. Reporting to the ACFSS Intervention Team Lead as the direct supervisor; the Casework Generalist provides support to children who may be at risk and/or directly or indirectly involved with the ACFSS Intervention Program. Using a strengths-based approach, the program is intended to support the delivery of child protection services for children in care.
Duties: Provide a diversified case management service to children and families in need. This includes supports, and intervention services for children at risk
- Assessing the level of risk, undertake immediate response, and safety planning for children
- Works closely with community, other programs, and a focus on community partnerships to ensure that a range of child intervention services are effectively coordinated to meet the needs of families
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, and dedication, to the well-being of children and families
- Duty to contribute toward a team approach of Least Intrusive, Best Practice, and Beliefs of the Nation
- Required to be on the On-Call/Intake rotation list; and Conducting home-visits, making collateral calls to community programs to support program success.
The Casework
Generalist is a key team member and may be asked to carry out additional duties and activities related to the effectiveness and successful implementation of the ACFSS Intervention Program.
Qualifications: Social Work Diploma with at least 4 years of related experience; or related diploma in the Human Services Field and at least 5 years of related experience
- OR related certificate and 10 years related experience
- Completed Government of Alberta’s Delegation Training Program;
Experience using trauma informed care and harm reduction practices
- Availability to provide services to children on weekdays, evenings, and weekends to accommodate the needs of clients; and An understanding of the dynamics and demographics of First Nation communities.
Additional Requirements: Current and valid Alberta driver’s license
- Child & Youth Information Module (CYIM) and Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) clearances
- Ability to speak and/or understand the Cree language is a robust asset.
