SUMMARY

Cashiers perform an array of functions that might include selling and refunding outgoing and incoming stock and materials, processing payments, organizing and maintaining cash and sales floor area.

Cashiers may be required to assist in and product merchandising and on the sales floor as needed.

Workers are required to lift up to 30 pounds, walk or stand for long periods of time. Staff must be available to work days, evenings, and weekends with flexible shifts and hours.

DUTIES

- Processing the sales of various types of merchandise
- Receive payment by cash, cheque, credit and debit
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers
- Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change




- Greet customers entering the store
- Follow the theft prevention strategies as outlined in our procedure manual.
- Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas
- Reconcile daily transactions to software and document any discrepancies
- Answer customers’ questions, and provide information on policies and procedures
