We are seeking a Personal Support Worker to assist a female employer who is a Stroke Survivor with overnight care.
This employer enjoys flowers, watching comedy movies and TV. She also likes to bird watch and loves to laugh and be entertained. She also likes to go for walks in wheelchair, loves to say hi and smile at children playing and meeting and saying hi to the dogs while she is on her walks.
The ideal candidate would be someone who is bubbly, upbeat and very patient; that can bring a positive energy, make this employer feel comfortable, as well as be a companion; someone that likes to be playful, silly, tells jokes and keeps things light.
Location:
- North Vancouver (near Phibbs Exchange)
Shifts and Hours:
- On Call/Casual Night Attendant
- 8:00pm to 8:00am
Compensation
- $135 per shift
Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Check on client 1 to 2 times per night
- When she calls for support it's to fix pillows around knees, head and adjust position using slider sheet
Required Qualifications:
- Non Smoker./Non Vaper
- Ability to identify when to redirect employer when emotional
- Experience with transfers, slider sheets and turning or re-positioning
- Proof of Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis vaccinations.
- Physically fit and able to complete the tasks
- comfortable working in an environment with a small dog
- Able to learn the employers communication style.
- Someone who is patient and takes time to explain what is happening at all times and is is a positive listener
Preferred Qualifications that would make you stand out:
- Minimum 1 year caregiving experience required
- Class 5 Driver's License preferred
- Living in North Vancouver is preferred
- Experience working with stroke survivors considered an asset
- Experience working with someone who is bedridden considered an asset
