Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Ownership / CEO
About The Ballroom Bowl The Ballroom Bowl is a growing Toronto-based entertainment and hospitality company operating multiple locations across the GTA. Our business combines bowling, food & beverage, sports, events, and nightlife and is entering an important phase of growth.
We are looking for an experienced CFO to provide senior-level financial leadership, strengthen our financial infrastructure, and help ownership make better decisions as the company scales.
This is not simply a bookkeeping or accounting role. We are looking for a strategic financial leader who can bring discipline, visibility, and accountability to the business.
The Opportunity The CFO will work closely with ownership and operational leadership to oversee the company’s financial strategy and performance.
The successful candidate will help us move from reactive financial management to proactive financial planning, providing clear insight into profitability, cash flow, capital requirements, location performance, and future growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
· Provide CFO-level financial leadership to ownership and senior management.
· Develop and maintain a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with company growth objectives.
· Provide financial analysis and recommendations for major business decisions, investments, acquisitions, and expansion.
· Establish financial targets, KPIs, and accountability across the organization.
· Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and ownership.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
· Oversee the preparation of accurate, timely monthly financial statements and management reporting.
· Develop executive-level dashboards showing revenue, margins, labour, food costs, EBITDA, cash flow, and location-level performance.
· Analyze financial performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
· Identify trends, risks, opportunities, and areas of underperformance.
· Develop meaningful KPIs for each business unit and location.
Budgeting & Forecasting
· Lead the annual budgeting process.
· Develop rolling forecasts and scenario models.
· Build financial models to evaluate new locations, renovations, equipment purchases, partnerships, and other major investments.
· Provide ownership with clear “what-if” analysis and recommendations.
Cash Flow & Working Capital
· Develop and maintain detailed cash-flow forecasting.
· Improve working-capital management.
· Monitor receivables, payables, inventory, debt obligations, and other cash requirements.
· Identify potential liquidity issues before they become problems.
· Assist with banking relationships, financing, refinancing, and capital planning.
Accounting & Controls
· Provide oversight and direction to the Director of Finance/Controller and accounting team.
· Improve internal financial controls and reporting processes.
· Ensure appropriate accounting policies and procedures are being followed.
· Work with external accountants and auditors as required.
· Help ensure the company’s accounting infrastructure can support continued growth.
Business & Operational Analysis
· Analyze the profitability of individual locations and business pillars, including: Bowling, Food & Beverage, Events, Sports and Nightlife.
· Develop contribution-margin and profitability analysis by location and revenue stream.
· Identify opportunities to improve margins and operating performance.
· Partner with operations to translate financial information into actionable business decisions.
Capital & Growth
· Support financing and capital-raising initiatives.
· Prepare financial information for lenders, investors, and other stakeholders.
· Evaluate capital expenditures and return on investment.
· Assist ownership with long-term corporate structure and capital planning.
· Build financial models for future expansion.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a hands-on CFO who is comfortable operating in a growing entrepreneurial company.
Required
· 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience.
· Previous CFO, VP Finance, Controller, or senior finance leadership experience.
· CPA designation strongly preferred.
· Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
· Experience working with multi-location or hospitality, entertainment, restaurant, retail, or consumer businesses is highly desirable.
· Strong Excel/financial modelling capabilities.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Ability to explain complex financial information in simple business terms.
· Strong commercial judgment and understanding of operational drivers.

Technology & Systems
Experience with modern accounting and reporting systems is preferred. Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar cloud-based ERP systems would be an asset.
The successful candidate will also be expected to help improve the company’s financial reporting, data quality, forecasting, and management information systems.

· A robust 13-week cash-flow forecast.
· A formal annual budgeting and forecasting process.

· Clear financial models for major capital and expansion decisions.
· A finance function capable of supporting significant future growth.
