City Place Daycare

Toronto

About Cityplace Daycare:

Cityplace Daycare is a brand-new daycare on Toronto’s waterfront at 350 Queens Quay West. We’re looking for a Child Care Supervisor and Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) who wants the opportunity to help shape the daycare from the beginning. Our programs will include two 15-child toddler rooms, two 24-child preschool rooms, and before- and after-care programming.

Who you are:

You’re curious about child development and early learning, and you like staying current on new research, ideas and approaches. You think about what works, ask good questions and are comfortable trying recent things when they make sense. At the same time, you know that a great daycare needs strong systems behind it. You’re organized, dependable and attentive to the details that keep the centre secure, compliant and running smoothly.

Your leadership style is calm, approachable and low-ego. You can set clear expectations, deal with problems directly and hold people accountable without creating an unnecessarily rigid or hierarchical workplace.

Salary: $55,868–$58,240 annually

Position: Permanent, full-time, salaried

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Work arrangement: In office

Benefits: Health benefits and two weeks of paid vacation

Anticipated start date: December 1, 2026, subject to licensing and opening readiness

Pre-opening Work: The successful candidate will also complete separately compensated pre-opening work, including helping recruit and build the opening team. Scope and compensation will be discussed in advance.

As Child Care Supervisor, you will:

· Lead high-quality programming aligned with Cityplace Daycare’s program statement and Ontario’s How Does Learning Happen? pedagogy.

· Maintain a visible presence in program areas, supporting educators and modelling responsive, inclusive and developmentally appropriate practice.

· Lead staff onboarding, coaching, development and day-to-day supervision.

· Coordinate staffing and schedules to meet operational and regulatory requirements.

· Maintain licensing, health and safety, documentation and inspection readiness.

· Coordinate daily centre operations, including required child and staff records.

· Build positive relationships with families and respond to questions about programming, child development and centre operations.

You are qualified if you have:

· Registration as a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) and membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.

· At least two years of experience providing licensed child care.

· Strong knowledge of the CCEYA, How Does Learning Happen? and applicable public health requirements.

· Demonstrated leadership capability; formal supervisory experience is an asset.

· Strong organization, judgement, communication and relationship-building skills.

· Genuine interest in current child development research and evidence-informed practice.

Conditions of employment

Employment is conditional on required Ministry approval, a satisfactory vulnerable sector check, valid Standard First Aid including infant and child CPR, verification of professional credentials, and required health and immunization documentation or an applicable exemption.

Inclusion & Accessibility

Cityplace Daycare is committed to building an inclusive workplace that reflects the diversity of the children, families and community we serve. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities, lived experiences and abilities, including candidates from communities that have historically been underrepresented or faced barriers to employment.

We are committed to an accessible and equitable recruitment process. Accommodation is available at every stage of recruitment and selection, including interviews and assessments. If you require accommodation, let us know what you need and we will work with you to provide appropriate support. Accommodation requests will be handled respectfully and confidentially.
