POSITION TITLE: Ma Faamii Citizen Support Worker

DEPARTMENT: Ma Faamii

CLASSIFICATION: MGO-05

SALARY RANGE: Starting at $58,366.00 Per Annum

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Permanent

LOCATION: Cumberland House

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Ma Faamii Operations Supervisor

Brief Overview:

Under the direction of the Ma Faamii Operations Supervisor, the Citizen Support Worker will provide support to Métis citizens in Cumberland House in addressing the challenges in navigating and accessing the complex multi-agency systems currently in place.

The Citizen Support

Worker will assist Métis citizens and their families connect to housing, mental and physical health support, addictions support, food security, family supports, cultural supports, clothing, and social supports which are close to their home community.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist Métis citizens in addressing the challenges of navigating multijurisdictional human systems. This includes but not limited to housing, addictions services, social services, child and family services, transportation, personal identification, mental and physical health supports, cultural supports, family supports, food security, winter clothing, systematic barriers, etc.
- As a Ma Faamii team member, develop a comprehensive provincial inventory of support services available to address client’s needs.
- Develop effective and collaborative working relationships with community agencies and other community service providers.
- Assist Métis citizens who have previously accessed services (Justice, Health, Foster Care, etc.)



through navigation supports so they can return safely to their home community.
- Maintain prompt, accurate, and skilled documentation of all citizen interactions, ensuring that records are completed in a timely manner, contain all relevant details, and are documented objectively. Attend and facilitate mobile engagement activities within your assigned region a minimum of two to three times per month, or as directed by your Supervisor or Manager.
- Maintain a qualified presence, engage effectively with citizens, and support program objectives through consistent community outreach and follow-up.
- Attend and participate in community events as an official representative of MN-S and Ma Faamii, as scheduled or directed by management.
- Engage with citizens, stakeholders, and community partners in a professional, respectful, and culturally appropriate manner, while promoting government programs, services, and objectives.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

- Post-secondary education in human services or equivalent combination of academic, professional and/or lived experience.
- Experience in navigating multi-jurisdictional public systems.
- Experience in community or public services.




- Ability to communicate in Indigenous languages is an asset but not a requirement.
- Case management experience is considered an asset.

Knowledge and Skills:

- Familiar with the principles of person-centered and trauma-informed care.
- Extensive knowledge of available community resources.
- Effective in-person and digital communication skills.
- Knowledge of intergenerational trauma and/or working with Indigenous people, families and/or communities. Specifically, the unique challenges and experiences of Métis citizens.
- Understanding of the factors which contribute to housing instabilities, mental health challenges, and addictions.
- Understanding of the dynamics of inter-governmental system barriers related to accessing housing, health care, food security, mental health care, child and family services, social services, transportation, etc.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Full Microsoft Office 365 suite and Adobe tools.
- Ability to travel.

Additional Requirements:

- Must have a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and access reliable transportation.
- Must be able to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector.
- Must be willing to travel 1-3 times per month within the province.
