What You Will Do

Summary

Reporting to the Director, Clinical Education and Training, the Clinical Educator, Team Lead, provides professional development and educational services to health care professionals interested in enhancing their skills in the field of HIV/AIDS. In addition, the Clinical Educator, Team Lead supervises the Clinical Education Coordinator and Education Program Coordinator, offering guidance, mentorship, and oversight to ensure the effective delivery of educational programs and initiatives.

What You Bring

Education:

- Master’s degree or higher in health care-related discipline.
- Three or more years’ experience participating in continuing education in the medical and health care related field.
- Clinical experience in management of HIV-positive individuals in the health care system in British Columbia.
- Experience in team leadership, staff supervision, or mentorship in a health care or educational setting.
- Formal training in medical education preferred.

Skills and Abilities: · Strong knowledge base in theory of teaching, learning and evaluation processes. Ability to design curriculum and programs, and assess learner needs.

· Ability to apply for continuing education credits for courses given to health care providers by the BC-CfE.

· Provide evidence-based studies, policies and procedures to maintain state of the art management and treatment of HIV-positive patients.

· Provide cost analysis and benefits justifying budget needs for the provision of ongoing health care professional education in the province.

· Enthusiastic and passionate about HIV-related issues, including hard-to-reach populations, addictions and other related co-morbidities.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, creative and open to new ideas.

Your Day to Day:

Educational Responsibilities

· Research, support and implement courses and teaching activities related to the professional development in the field of HIV/AIDS.

· Assist the BC-CfE Director of Education in the planning and provision of the regular HIV Continuing Medical Education (CME) events, (patient care rounds, mortality and morbidity rounds, IDC journal club and others).

· Participate in the development and implementation of the inter-professional HIV/AIDS courses, in cooperation with other committee members.

· Act as both informal and formal consultant assisting with the integration of new learning into nursing, social worker and other health professional practices.

· Serve as a resource assisting health care professionals that consult with the BC-CfE regarding educational needs and planning.

· Provide and organize lectures for community organizations upon request. These lectures will aim to review the present information with regard to HIV transmission, management, treatment and also include lectures related to marginalized populations co-morbidities and access to care.

· Provide ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of educational activities to ensure that they maintain and enhance professional development that promotes and deliver cost-effective, high-quality health care.

Team Lead Responsibilities

· Supervise, mentor, and support the Education Coordinator(s),



ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.

· Provide leadership in planning, delegating, and monitoring tasks to ensure timely and effective delivery of educational programs.

· Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment that encourages professional growth, accountability, and innovation.

· Act as the primary point of contact for the coordinators, offering guidance on workload management, problem-solving, and prioritization.

· Conduct regular check-ins, performance feedback, and professional development planning for the coordinators.

· Ensure clear communication between the Coordinators, Director of Education, and other stakeholders to maintain transparency and alignment.

· Document and report on team activities, challenges, and successes to support continuous improvement and organizational learning.

· Model professional standards of conduct, confidentiality, and respect in all interactions, setting expectations for the team.

The BC-CFE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Centre with an creative, low-barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics and Professional Education Programs. A multidisciplinary team of clinicians, including Physicians, Nurses, and peers, and researchers, including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts, work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socioeconomic barriers in accessing healthcare.
