Job Overview

FTAI Aviation's Component Repair Business Unit (CRBU) is expanding its machining capabilities and seeking a Senior CNC Programmer to support the repair and restoration of high-value aerospace components. In this role, you will develop and optimize CNC programs, improve machining processes, and provide technical support to production teams. Working closely with machinists, engineers, and operations leaders, you will play a key role in improving efficiency, quality, and repeatability across our growing aerospace repair operation.

You will work with a variety of CNC and conventional milling, turning, and grinding equipment, including advanced 5-axis and 6-axis machines, machining high-precision aerospace components manufactured from hard and difficult-to-machine materials.



This position is ideal for a hands-on CNC programming professional who enjoys solving complex machining challenges and driving continuous improvement in a highly technical manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

CNC Programming & Machining Support

- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for milling, turning, and grinding operations, including multi-axis machining applications.

- Create setup sheets, tooling documentation, and work instructions to support production.

- Support machine setup, prove-out activities, and troubleshooting during production.

- Collaborate with machinists to resolve machining and programming challenges.

- Optimize cutting parameters, machining strategies, and tooling selection to improve performance, quality, and repeatability.

- Program and support the machining of high-precision aerospace components and hard-to-machine materials.

- Provide technical support for CNC and conventional machining operations, including milling, turning, and grinding processes.

Process Improvement & Technical Development

- Design and improve fixturing and workholding solutions.

- Conduct cycle-time studies and identify opportunities to improve productivity.

- Support the introduction of new repair processes and machining methods.

- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

- Work closely with engineering and operations teams to improve manufacturing processes and documentation.

- Evaluate tooling, machining strategies, and manufacturing methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

- Support the implementation of best practices for complex machining operations, including 5-axis and 6-axis equipment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

- DEC in Mechanical Manufacturing, Machining Techniques, Industrial Manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Minimum 3 years of CNC programming experience in aerospace, precision machining, automotive, tooling, heavy industry,



or a similar manufacturing environment.

- Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Siemens NX, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM, or equivalent.

- Strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, fixturing, and workholding principles.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T;, and technical specifications.

- Experience supporting production environments and troubleshooting machining issues.

- Working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.

- Ability to communicate in both French and English in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Aerospace manufacturing or repair experience.

- Experience with complex component machining and repair operations.

- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or process optimization methodologies.

- Journeyman machinist, Machining Techniques diploma, or equivalent practical machining experience.
