Commercial Landscape Estimator BrightView Landscapes is a year-round landscape construction and grounds maintenance contractor based in Edmonton. We work with home builders, developers, general contractors, municipalities, and institutional clients across commercial landscape construction projects throughout the Edmonton region. We are looking for an experienced Commercial Landscape Estimator who can take ownership of opportunities from tender review through final bid submission.

This is not an entry-level estimating position. We are looking for someone who understands construction estimating, can interpret drawings and specifications, build complete and competitive estimates, identify scope and risk, and communicate effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, and our operations team. The right person will have significant autonomy and will play an important role in how BrightView prices work, evaluates opportunities, and improves its estimating systems as the company continues to grow.

Estimating & Preconstruction

- Manage commercial landscape estimates from initial tender review through bid submission
- Complete detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents
- Develop labour, equipment, material, subcontractor, and overhead costs
- Solicit, review, and level supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks, constructability issues, and potential cost-saving opportunities
- Prepare competitive bid submissions, clarifications, and scope letters
- Participate in bid reviews and pricing strategy with management
- Maintain accurate historical pricing, production rates, estimating templates, and cost databases




- Follow up on submitted bids and assist with scope negotiations where required

Project Handoff & Cost Control

- Prepare transparent handoff packages for awarded projects
- Review estimate assumptions, production rates, scope, and risks with operations
- Assist with pricing change orders and additional work
- Compare estimated versus actual project costs and use results to improve future estimates
- Maintain communication with project managers, supervisors, builders, developers, and general contractors as required

What We’re Looking For

- 3–5+ years of estimating experience in commercial landscaping, civil construction, earthworks, site development, or a related construction environment
- Proven ability to independently prepare complete construction estimates
- Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, grading plans, details, and tender documents
- Strong understanding of labour, equipment, material, and subcontractor costing
- Comfortable working in Excel and estimating software
- Strong commercial judgment and attention to detail
- Organized, accountable, and able to manage multiple bids and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong Assets

- Direct commercial landscape construction estimating experience
- Experience estimating scopes such as earthworks, rough/final grading, topsoil, sod, planting, irrigation, hardscape, fencing, site furnishings, or related exterior works
- Existing knowledge of Edmonton-area suppliers, subcontractors, builders, developers, and general contractors
- Landscape Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or similar education
- Experience with digital takeoff/estimating platforms

Pay: $65,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
