Our client is a growing, independent financial services organization that provides operational, administration, and investor support solutions to a range of alternative investment firms and institutional clients globally.
As part of its continued growth in Canada, the organization is establishing a new downtown Toronto office. This is an exciting opportunity to join at an early stage and play a key role in helping build and strengthen the local operation while contributing to the success of a global business.
Your New Role
As Compliance Manager (First Line of Defense), you will lead the execution and ongoing enhancement of the organization's financial crime compliance framework. You will oversee AML, KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), sanctions screening, onboarding controls, and ongoing monitoring activities.
Partnering closely with stakeholders across Operations, Risk, Legal, Technology, and Compliance, you will ensure regulatory requirements are effectively embedded into day-to-day processes and controls. You will be responsible for managing compliance operations, monitoring risk, overseeing investigations and escalations, maintaining regulatory readiness, and driving process improvements through automation, workflow enhancements, and stronger operational controls.

What You'll Need to Succeed To be considered for this position, you will have:
- 5+ years of experience in AML, KYC, financial crime compliance, or compliance operations within financial services.
- 2+ years of people leadership experience, including managing team performance, resource planning,
and operational priorities.
- Strong knowledge of AML/KYC requirements, CDD, EDD, beneficial ownership reviews, sanctions screening, PEP screening, and financial crime controls.
- Experience operating within a First Line of Defense environment and overseeing compliance controls and procedures.
- A demonstrated ability to identify control weaknesses, manage compliance issues, and deliver effective remediation plans.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the confidence to challenge and escalate risks when appropriate.
- Experience within a regulated financial services environment and/or relevant compliance qualifications would be considered an asset.
