Position Overview The Construction Inspector is a field-based role responsible for monitoring construction activities to confirm that work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, safety practices, and applicable standards. This position works closely with project managers, contractors, engineers, and clients to document progress, identify issues, and support the successful delivery of construction projects.
Position Type
We are looking for either a fulltime permanent position or a 4-month contract position depending on the successful candidate's preference and availability.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Conduct onsite inspections of civil construction activities.
- Observe construction of roadways, grading, drainage systems, municipal servicing, and related civil infrastructure.
- Document construction activities and identify potential deficiencies or non-conforming work.
- Record construction progress, site conditions, and observations accurately and professionally.
- Respond to construction-related inquiries by providing information and documentation.
- Build professional working relationships with contractors, clients, and project team members.
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or related post-secondary program, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant construction inspection experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in active construction environments.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in active construction and field environments, with some office‑based work; Regular travel to construction sites is required
- Field work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, and active construction operations
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including hard hats, CSA‑approved safety boots, high‑visibility clothing, and other safety gear as applicable
- Work may involve prolonged standing, walking, bending, and working around construction equipment
Pay: $23.00-$26.00 per hour
