Ashe Roofing is a locally owned and operated business that has provided commercial roofing services on Prince Edward Island since 1991. We specialize in modified bitumen roofing, built-up roofing, and thermal insulation for flat and low-pitch roofs, offering installation, repair, and maintenance services for jobs of all sizes.

The Lead Hand works closely with the Foreman and Manager to keep the day-to-day operation of the roofing crew moving, supervising the crew on-site while working hands-on in the execution of the job. This person helps direct the crew, supports safe work practices and quality of workmanship, and keeps the Foreman and Manager informed of progress, delays, and site conditions.

Responsibilities

– Supervises the crew on-site, assigning tasks and setting priorities in line with the Foreman's plan for the day.

– Steps in for the Foreman on-site when the Foreman is off-site or covering another job, keeping the crew on task and the work moving.

– Works hands-on alongside the crew installing, repairing, and maintaining flat and low-pitch roofs.

– Leads by example and upholds all health and safety policies and procedures,



including working-at-heights protocols.

– Trains, mentors, and corrects technique for crew members; reinforces valuable work practices.

– Assists the Foreman with scheduling, materials, and site logistics.

– Works outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

– Proven construction crew-leading experience with a willingness to learn roofing-specific techniques on the job (flat/low-pitch roofing experience an asset).

– Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and support a crew in executing the day’s plan.

– Strong organizational, scheduling, and communication skills.

– Motivated, dependable, and reliable.

– Working at heights required.
