The Construction Superintendent is the primary point of responsibility for the execution of construction works.
The Construction
Superintendent plans construction activities, including labour, equipment, and material requirements; work methods, sequences, and schedule; and construction budgets.
The Construction
Superintendent oversees the work of BIM’s construction management team and is the primary point of contact with construction contractors.
Main Accountabilities
- Provide input to project engineers during design development on issues of constructability, construction sequencing, and construction norms and standards.
- Provide input on construction costs during budget development; provide input on construction sequencing, durations, and resource requirements during schedule development.
- Prepare and implement the Construction Execution Plan subject to review and approval by the Project Director and the Project Manager.
- Act as the primary liaison between the project management team and the construction contractors; oversee and direct the contractors’ supervisory team (superintendents and supervisors) to develop work plans,
including manpower, equipment, and material requirements; and coordinate interfaces between multiple contractors working at the same or overlapping work fronts.
- Develop forecasts of upcoming works during construction (3-week look-aheads) in alignment with the project schedules.
- Ensure that construction works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Carry out regular field inspections; identify construction deficiencies; and coordinate with the contractors to resolve deficiencies.
- Take primary responsibility for protected execution of work in the field, liaising between safety coordinators (BIM and contractors) to ensure safe work practices are adopted.
Main Qualifications
- Certified Engineering Technologist - Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree - Engineering Major - Preferred
- 5 to 7 years of direct construction experience in a supervisory role (supervisor or above)

Compensation
Compensation for this position is aligned with Baffinland’s approved compensation framework and current market conditions. Final compensation will be determined based on:
- Relevant education and certifications
- Related training and experience
- Internal equity considerations
