Reports to: Various leaders of the Executive Team

Hours: To be determined, ideally Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts, with occasional evening/weekend oversight as needed. On-site at 1428 Ouellette with mobility for occasional site visits.

Salary range: $48,750.00-$62,400.00/year + potential awarded bonus incentive based on personal and operational performance metrics.

Position Summary: A Continuous Improvement Specialist (CIS) analyzes, designs, and optimizes organizational processes to eliminate waste, increase efficiency, and boost overall performance. This “change agent” will partner with cross-functional teams in a specimen collection laboratory environment to implement operational excellence using proven methodologies to sustain meaningful and measurable change across various departments. By embracing the vision of the organization and aligning priorities with the executive management team, the CIS will deliver solutions amongst our teams that will better serve the patients and doctors in our community.

Role Description: The Continuous Improvement Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Windsor, ON. This role focuses on analyzing current laboratory processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes that enhance quality,



efficiency, and safety. Day-to-day responsibilities include mapping workflows, collecting and interpreting performance data, facilitating improvement projects, and collaborating with laboratory staff and leadership to standardize best practices.

The specialist will develop and deliver training on new procedures, monitor the impact of changes, and support ongoing initiatives aligned with operational and regulatory requirements. The role requires regular communication with cross-functional teams to ensure improvements are sustainable and aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

· Map current state processes to identify bottlenecks in patient wait times, check-in process, staffing, and efficiencies within the specimen collection areas and data processing.

· Partner with Quality Assurance teams to ensure all collection activities adhere to accreditations and regulatory guidelines such as IQMH.

· Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement procedures that encourage corrective and preventative behaviours for pre-analytical errors like sample hemolysis, labeling mistakes, data-processing errors, or missed/expired collections and recalls.

· Establish and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and workplace organization standards across mobile and clinic-based collection sites in additional to cross-functionally in all departments.

· Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as turnaround times from collection to lab processing,



staff productivity, patient reviews, and time-stamp analysis, etc.

· Facilitate and coach frontline phlebotomists, lab technicians, and department leadership on problem-solving tools to embed a culture of continuous operational excellence to drive productivity and minimize errors.

· Other duties as assigned by Human Resources Manager and/or executive leaders.

Qualifications and Experience:

· 3+ years of proven experience facilitating operational excellence projects for large, complex teams, ideally in a laboratory environment. Other production type industries will be considered.

· Must hold a post-secondary educational accreditation/diploma from a recognized educational institution; specialty in Project Management, Continuous Improvement, or Change Management is considered an asset.

· General knowledge of a specimen collection laboratory.

· Valid driver’s license is required for site visits within Windsor-Essex County.

· Satisfactory police clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Strong organizational skills; ability to manage competing priorities.

· Experienced leadership skills to influence and impact change through the ability to coach various departments, employees, and leadership levels.

· Analytical with a solutions-based mindset, driving measurable results through creativity, strategy, logic, and effective communication both verbally and written.

· Above satisfactory proficiency with multiple types of technological platforms and devices; experience with laboratory equipment and machinery is considered an asset.
