The Senior
Staff - Control Systems (Manager grade level) will be responsible to design, validate and certify the engine control systems for gas turbine engines, including current centrelines, derivative legacy engines, and hybrid/new technology demonstrators. The successful incumbent will develop system level requirements for engine controls. During the engine/aircraft concept phase, he/she will work with aircraft manufacturers to develop control system functionality.
He/she will work with an integrated product team (Performance, Operability, System Safety, Design disciplines, Customer Support, etc.) to match control system functionality against the engine and aircraft requirements. The successful incumbent will understand power plant dynamics and DO-178C process as they prepare the evidence to support the engine type certificate. He/She will also work closely with suppliers to verify software, and review data for control system tests performed on simulations, engine and aircraft, and investigate field events.
This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday with flexible hours, based in Mississauga , and performed exclusively on-site.
Create control system requirements by working closely with internal and external customers. Work closely with P&WC; software design department and other software suppliers to ensure that system requirements are interpreted and implemented as intended.
Create control system test plans/procedures used to validate control systems on simulated closed-loop benches, in a P&WC; engine test cell, and on experimental flight test aircraft. Support P&WC; engine test department and suppliers’ closed-loop bench test facilities to ensure smooth execution of validation activity. Support customer flight test activity.
Review and interpret test data produced during validation testing. Generate top-level certification reports for submittal to national and foreign airworthiness certification authorities. Engage in continuous improvement to organizational processes based on lessons learned.
Provide technical support to P&WC;’s manufacturing sector to ensure smooth transition of new products into production. Provide technical support to P&WC;’s aftermarket sector to resolve field issues. A degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace); combined with 5 to 15 years experience in control systems engineering. (Relevant experience in gas turbine control systems as well as knowledge of dual channel FADEC would be considered an asset.
An understanding of aerospace software DO-178C and knowledge of DO-254 firmware is considered desirable. Pension and savings plan with employer contributions Health and wellness program,

The selected candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods. Employment is conditional upon the successful completion of these checks and obtaining the required clearances. The salary range for this role is 101,500 CAD - 151,500 CAD .
