CONTROLLER

Collicutt Energy Services is a solutions-driven engine company supporting customers across power generation, natural gas compression, industrial engines, and related energy sectors. As our organization continues to grow, strong financial leadership, scalable systems, and reliable financial information are critical to how we make decisions and move the business forward.

We are currently seeking an experienced Controller to join our Finance team in Red Deer, Alberta. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this is a senior finance leadership role responsible for the integrity of our financial reporting, day-to-day accounting operations, internal controls, compliance, and development of the accounting team.

We're looking for a CPA who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with practical business insight and leadership ability. The right person won't simply report the numbers—they'll understand what is driving them, identify risks and opportunities, improve how we work, and provide leadership with the financial insight needed to make sound business decisions.

What's in it for you?

- Competitive compensation
- Comprehensive group benefits
- RRSP matching
- Senior finance leadership opportunity
- Opportunity to influence financial processes, systems, and controls
- Exposure to a diverse and growing operational business
- Collaborative relationship with executive and operational leadership
- Opportunity to develop and lead a strong accounting team

What You'll Be Doing

- Lead month-end, period-end, and year-end close and financial reporting processes
- Oversee core accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, inventory accounting, fixed assets, payroll accounting, intercompany transactions, and reconciliations
- Manage complex accounting matters including revenue recognition, consolidations, and inventory accounting

- Lead the annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, compliance practices, and financial risk management processes
- Analyze revenue, margins, expenses, working capital, and financial performance to provide meaningful insight to leadership
- Partner with operational leaders on budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and business performance
- Optimize financial systems, ERP utilization, and accounting processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and financial discipline
- Oversee finance-related SAP Business One governance, controls, financial master data, and process optimization
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while establishing clear expectations and accountability

What You Bring

Required

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA designation (or equivalent) – required
- Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and audit experience
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance requirements
- Experience working with ERP systems and financial process improvement initiatives
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Demonstrated experience leading, developing, and mentoring accounting professionals
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial leaders

Assets

- Experience working in a multi-entity or multi-jurisdictional organization
- Experience with SAP Business One
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial services, energy, or another operationally complex environment

Who We're Looking For You're a finance leader who can move comfortably between the details and the bigger picture.

You maintain high standards for accuracy and controls, but you also understand that Finance needs to support the business—not slow it down. You can challenge assumptions constructively, establish accountability, develop your team, and work across departments to solve complex problems.

You're also comfortable stepping into an environment with competing priorities and change. Rather than accepting "that's how we've always done it," you look for better, more scalable ways to get the work done.

- Based in Red Deer, Alberta
- Collaborative role working closely with Finance, Operations, and executive leadership
- Fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and business requirements
