American Yeast Sales Corporation is a leader in the food industry and part of a global organization with operations across multiple countries.

We are seeking a Controller (Financial Controller) to lead our accounting function and provide financial support to our Sales and Distribution teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the Accounting Department and oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, cost accounting, and financial statement preparation.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and government regulations.
- Manage and coordinate the monthly financial close process.
- Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations and income statement accounts.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify, address, and resolve operational and financial issues.
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Business Unit Controller.
- Prepare financial analyses, forecasts, and performance reports to support decision-making.
- Monitor financial performance and recommend opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization.
- Supervise and develop a team of two direct reports.

The Team Reporting to the Divisional Finance Director, the Controller will lead a team of 4 to 6 direct reports responsible for accounts receivable, pricing and billing, credit management, inventory accounting, and related financial support activities. The role is part of a collaborative finance organization and partners regularly with Sales, Distribution, Operations, and Corporate Finance teams.

Qualifications And Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.




- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position in a distribution environment.

Technical skills

Required

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Bilingual, English and French, both spoken and written
- Knowledge of financial systems such as Cognos, Concur, and Power BI.

An asset
- CPA designation

- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop team members
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism.

General criteria

Required

- Ability to travel occasionally to the United States for business purposes and to obtain and maintain any required travel documents and authorizations. (Approximately 1 to 2 times per month).
