Established in 1970, Aventa Centre of Excellence for Women with Addictions is a leader in trauma-informed, gender specific, absence based, addictions treatment for women. Through a multi-disciplinary team approach, Aventa delivers a trauma-informed curriculum researched and written by Dr.
Stephanie
Covington. Aventa’s operating funding is provided through provincial and federal Governments; Aventa has been partnered with the Alberta government since 1971. Aventa is accredited with Exemplary Standing through Accreditation Canada.

We are dedicated to building a diverse workforce and to creating an environment where our valued employees can reach their potential. We currently have a permanent part-time opportunity for a Cook position at our Calgary location.
This position is responsible for the preparation and delivery of meals as assigned, and other responsibilities as noted below.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the preparation and delivery of lunch and dinner; organization and cleanliness of the kitchen and food storage areas.
- Responsible for complying with all safe food handling procedures to meet the standards of Public Health regulations.
- Experience with special dietary needs and preparing these meals alongside the main menu items.
- Mentally and physically able to perform duties as outlined, including physical activities such as stretching, standing, bending, and lifting heavy objects.
- Demonstrates compassion and is driven to provide quality food and service for residents.
- Participates in and promotes the Health and Safety program.
- Responsible for ensuring cleanliness and preventative maintenance of all kitchen equipment.
- Responsible for keeping food storage areas organized and clean.
- Follows the organizations code of conduct and maintains respectful working relationships with Staff, Clients, and suppliers.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A responsible, reliable, mature personality is required.
Desired skills:
- Must have at least Three (3) years of institutional/large batch cooking experience.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with 5 years driving experience.
- Must possess a flexible, willing, and positive attitude and a high standard of hygiene and personal appearance.
- Good communication skills. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Other requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Red Seal preferred but not required.
- Current (within 3 months) Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Must have current Safe Food Handling certification.
