Job Profile
Under the direction of the Manager, Community Centres, the Coordinator of Strategic Projects/Initiatives provides leadership and guidance in the execution of projects and initiatives related to the Community Service Department's strategic plan through an integrated team approach that strives for innovation, excellence and efficiency. Projects may include, but are not limited to LiveSAFE, Excellence Winnipeg,
the Recreation Facilities Master Plan, feasibility studies, Levels of Service, and Service Level Agreements. The Coordinator of Strategic Projects/Initiatives will, depending on the size, scope, and complexity of the initiative/project, lead, facilitate, coordinate, and provide direction, monitoring and oversight activity for the projects assigned and ensure that strategic benefits, efficiencies and effectiveness outcomes planned are realized.
This position is expected to develop and maintain robust relationships with project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
As The Coordinator Of Strategic Projects/Initiatives, You Will
- Provide project management expertise and guidance to the Department to successfully complete and/or implement projects and departmental initiatives, while achieving identified goals, objectives, deliverables, and outcomes.
- Develop and deliver timely and accurate reports and presentations relative to assigned projects/initiatives.
- Formally and informally engage and communicate with all stakeholders throughout the project/initiative.
- Other duties as assigned.
Your Education And Qualifications Include
- Bachelor Degree in Project Management, Commerce or Public Administration or an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- ADKAR Change Management Certification Training to be obtained within 24 months of obtaining the position.
- Attainment of a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation/Prince 11 certification in Asset Management at the time of hire is desirable. Applicants who have not yet attained these certifications are required to obtain within a 6 year timeframe.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License.
- 2 to 3 years' experience related to the duties listed above in Project Delivery, preferably in a Public Sector environment.
- Previous success in leading projects including change initiatives, navigating complex environments and influencing desirable outcomes through positive and collaborative relationship management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, stakeholders and the general public.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite including experience Project Management Systems such as Microsoft Project or similar software would be an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment towards continuous learning, growth and the achievement of high performance.
- Proven ability to set priorities, solve problems and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Experience in a municipal environment would be an asset.
- Demonstrated organizational, decision-making,
research and analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of systems development, performance measurement.
- Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, Visio.
- Proven report writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written, oral, and presentation skills.
- Experience in working with the community, Public Engagement in a collaborative and interactive manner.
- A general understanding of the municipal political and administrative environment.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public.
- Must have demonstrated acceptable attendance and job performance relevant to this position.
