Build Sport in Your Community

Engage Sport North is looking for a motivated, community-minded sport qualified who wants to make an impact across the sport development pathway in Northeast BC.

This is a unique hands-on role combining front-line coaching and program delivery with sport development, program coordination and community-building responsibilities.

Engage Sport North has established sport participation and physical literacy programming throughout Northeast BC, including our partnership with Northern Lights College. We are looking for the right person to coordinate and deliver existing programming while helping expand athlete development and strength and conditioning services, build relationships with local sport organizations, and create new opportunities for athletes and families across the region.

This position will begin at approximately 15–20 hours per week, with the opportunity for the role to grow as programming, partnerships and fee-for-service opportunities expand.

For someone who wants to work across the full Long-Term Development in Sport pathway — from helping children develop fundamental movement skills to supporting competitive athletes — this is an opportunity to build something meaningful in Northeast BC.

About Engage Sport North

Engage Sport North (ESN) is a regional not-for-profit multisport organization dedicated to advancing sport participation and excellence across Northern British Columbia.

Our work spans the sport pathway from physical literacy and first sport experiences through community sport, athlete development and high performance. We work alongside communities, schools, sport organizations, coaches and partners to improve access to quality sport opportunities throughout Northern BC.

What You'll Do

Program Coordination & Delivery

Coordinate and directly deliver Engage Sport North programming throughout Northeast BC, including:

- Physical literacy, Park Play Days, Try-It and community sport programming
- Youth strength and conditioning and athlete development
- Team training and Performance Lab services
- Other programming based on community needs and opportunities

Create positive, inclusive environments where participants can build skills,

confidence and participate in sport. Northern Lights College Sport Participation Program

Coordinate Engage Sport North's sport participation programming in partnership with Northern Lights College, including program scheduling, promotion, participant engagement, volunteer coordination and communication with college partners.

Support the continued development of accessible and engaging sport and physical activity opportunities for Northern Lights College students.

Athlete & Community Sport Development

Working with Engage Sport North's Sport Development and High Performance teams:

- Build relationships with Local Sport Organizations, schools, facilities, coaches and community partners
- Identify opportunities to strengthen local sport and athlete development pathways
- Help grow sustainable fee-for-service training and athlete development services
- Support coach development and athlete education
- Contribute to the longer-term development of Engage Sport North services throughout Northeast BC

Program Administration Support day-to-day regional operations, including scheduling, registrations, facilities and equipment, program promotion, data collection, budgets and reporting.

Administrative responsibilities may be completed remotely where appropriate, while coaching, program delivery and community engagement will primarily take place in person throughout Northeast BC.

Qualifications & Attributes

We're looking for a hands-on sport professional who is excited to work across community and competitive sport. The ideal candidate will bring:

- Post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Sport Science, Physical Education or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience
- Experience coaching children and youth,

with knowledge of strength and conditioning and athlete development
- Understanding of Long-Term Development in Sport
- NCCP or other relevant coaching certifications
- Strong communication, relationship-building and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as part of a regional team
- An entrepreneurial mindset and interest in growing sport programs and services

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is great with people, comfortable coaching on the floor, and excited to help grow sport opportunities in Quesnel. Schedule & Growth Opportunity

This is a permanent part-time position of approximately 15–20 hours per week. The schedule will include a combination of daytime and evening work based on program delivery and community needs, with flexibility for some administrative responsibilities to be completed remotely.

Additional coaching hours may be available for candidates with appropriate strength and conditioning qualifications and experience. As participation, athlete development, partnerships and fee-for-service programming grow, there is potential for the hours and scope of this position to expand.

Some regional travel will be required to support programming and partnerships throughout Northeast BC.

This is an opportunity to start by delivering great programs and grow alongside the services you help build.
