The Theatre Crew Member is responsible for providing excellent customer service and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of Albion Cinemas. Crew Members may be assigned to different areas of the theatre, including Concessions, Box Office, Ticket Checking, Ushering, Auditoriums, Lobby, Washrooms and General Cleaning.
This is a fast-paced, customer-focused position requiring teamwork, reliability, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities during busy showtimes.
Key Responsibilities1. Customer Service
- Welcome and assist guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer customer questions regarding movies, showtimes, tickets, seating and theatre facilities.
- Provide accurate information about ticket prices, concession items and theatre policies.
- Handle customer concerns professionally and involve the Manager when necessary.
- Maintain a positive and welcoming environment for all guests.
- Assist guests with accessibility requirements when needed.
2. Concession Operations
- Operate the concession counter efficiently during regular and peak periods.
- Prepare and sell popcorn, beverages, candy, nachos, hot food and other concession products offered by the theatre.
- Operate popcorn machines, beverage dispensers, warming equipment and other concession equipment safely.
- Follow proper food preparation, hygiene and food-handling procedures.
- Keep concession counters, equipment and preparation areas clean and organized.
- Restock popcorn, cups, lids, straws, candy, beverages and other supplies.
- Monitor product availability and inform management when stock is running low.
- Follow proper product rotation and minimize food waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the shift.
3. Cash Handling & POS
- Operate the theatre’s POS/cash register system accurately.
- Process cash, debit, credit and other accepted payment methods.
- Handle cash responsibly and maintain accurate transactions.
- Provide correct change and receipts to customers.
- Follow all cash-handling and till procedures established by management.
- Report cash discrepancies or transaction issues immediately to the Manager.
- Maintain confidentiality of cash, sales information and company procedures.
4. Ticket Sales & Ticket Checking
- Sell movie tickets through the theatre’s ticketing/POS system when assigned.
- Verify tickets at the entrance before guests enter the auditorium.
- Confirm the correct movie, showtime and auditorium.
- Direct guests to the appropriate auditorium and seating area.
- Follow theatre admission policies and movie-rating/admission requirements.
- Prevent unauthorized entry into auditoriums.
- Assist guests with ticket or seating-related questions.
5. Usher & Auditorium Duties
- Perform regular auditorium checks before, during and after screenings.
- Confirm that the auditorium is clean and ready for the next show.
- Check for garbage, spills, damaged seats or other issues.
- Monitor the auditorium for disruptions and report serious issues to management.
- Check basic presentation conditions such as picture, sound and temperature and immediately report technical problems.
- Ensure emergency exits and walkways remain accessible.
- Assist guests in finding seats when required.
- Help maintain a quiet, safe and comfortable movie-going environment.
6. Cleaning & Housekeeping Crew Members are expected to maintain cleanliness throughout the theatre, including:
- Auditoriums and seating areas
- Lobby and entrance areas
- Hallways and stairways
- Ticket-checking areas
- Concession areas
- Washrooms
- Staff areas
- High-touch surfaces
- Garbage and recycling areas
Responsibilities include:
- Remove garbage and replace garbage bags.
- Sweep and mop floors as required.
- Clean spills immediately to prevent slip hazards.
- Wipe and sanitize high-touch surfaces.
- Clean and restock washrooms.
- Refill toilet paper, paper towels, soap and other required supplies.
- Clean auditorium floors and seating areas between screenings.
- Keep entrances, exits and public areas clean throughout the shift.
7. Theatre & Screen Area Maintenance
- Keep auditorium and screen areas clean and presentable.
- Ensure there is no garbage or debris near the screen or stage area.
- Report damaged seats, lights, doors, equipment or other facility issues.
- Report any projector, screen, sound or presentation-related issues to management immediately.
- Do not operate technical cinema equipment unless properly trained and authorized.
8. Safety & Security
- Follow all theatre safety policies and procedures.
- Keep aisles, stairs and emergency exits explicit.
- Immediately report spills, trip hazards, damaged equipment or unsafe conditions.
- Report suspicious activity or security concerns to management.
- Follow emergency evacuation and emergency response procedures.
- Assist guests during emergencies as directed by management.
- Never ignore a safety issue or leave a known hazard unattended.
9. Teamwork & Fast-Paced Operations
- Work effectively as part of a team.
- Be prepared to move between different departments based on theatre requirements.
- Support coworkers during busy showtimes and rush periods.
- Be able to multitask while maintaining accuracy and customer service.
- Follow instructions from the Manager or Supervisor.
- Help other departments when required.
- Remain productive during slower periods by cleaning, stocking and organizing assigned areas.
10. Opening & Closing Duties When assigned, Crew Members may assist with:
Opening:
- Preparing concession areas.
- Preparing popcorn and food equipment.
- Stocking concession supplies.
- Checking auditoriums and washrooms.
- Preparing ticketing and guest-service areas.
- Ensuring the theatre is ready before opening.
Closing:
- Cleaning concession areas and equipment.
- Cleaning auditoriums and common areas.
- Restocking supplies.
- Removing garbage.
- Cleaning washrooms.
- Ensuring auditoriums and public areas are clear.
- Following all closing procedures assigned by management.
Crew Members are expected to be flexible. Being hired as a Crew Member means the employee may be assigned to Concessions, Cash/POS, Ticket Checking, Ushering, Auditorium Checks, Cleaning, Washrooms, Lobby or other theatre operations depending on business requirements. Pay: $17.60 per hour
