Full time, permanent, must be available weekday + weekends The Dairy Farm Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the dairy operation. Reporting directly to the owners, the Manager will provide leadership to the farm team while ensuring the highest standards of animal care, milk quality, employee engagement, and operational performance. The successful candidate will be expected to think like an owner—bringing forward new ideas, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping guide future investments that support the long-term growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Herd Management

- Lead all aspects of herd health, reproduction, breeding, and transition management.
- Work closely with veterinarians, nutritionists, breeding advisors, and other industry professionals.
- Monitor production, reproduction, and health performance while implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
- Ensure exceptional standards of animal welfare and milk quality.

Farm Operations

- Manage the daily operation of the dairy, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Develop employee schedules and oversee labour requirements.
- Supervise, mentor, and support farm employees while fostering a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture.
- Maintain regular communication with ownership by providing updates on herd performance, operational priorities, staffing, and emerging issues.

Business Growth & Leadership

- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, profitability, and sustainability.
- Bring forward ideas for future investments, technology adoption, and operational improvements.




- Assist with planning capital projects and implementing new initiatives as the business grows.
- Help build a high-performing dairy operation recognized for excellence within Newfoundland and Labrador.

Equipment & Facilities

- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment and facilities.
- Coordinate larger repairs with contractors and service providers.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues as they arise.
- Experience with dairy technology and automated equipment is considered an asset.

Qualifications We're looking for someone who combines practical farming experience with strong leadership skills. Preferred qualifications include:

- Experience managing or supervising a commercial dairy operation.
- Strong knowledge of dairy herd management, reproduction, nutrition, and animal health.
- Proven leadership and employee management experience.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform light maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
- Experience using dairy management software and herd management systems.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire to continually improve.
