About The Role CrowdStrike is seeking a highly skilled Principal Data Engineer specializing in Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI platforms to join our expanding Data Science Platform Engineering team. This leadership role involves designing, building, and deploying advanced data infrastructure that supports our next-generation AI-driven security products.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience with LLM integration, agentic workflows, and harnessing AI agents to develop scalable, impactful solutions. As a key leader, you will champion engineering excellence by delivering high-quality, efficient code, mentoring team members, and enhancing the team’s technical capabilities. The role requires managing large-scale systems approaching Exabyte levels of data, emphasizing best practices in DevSecOps, distributed data processing, and AI infrastructure.
Your expertise will directly influence the development of autonomous security features and scalable AI solutions that protect our customers and advance CrowdStrike’s position as a cybersecurity innovator.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related STEM field, or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Data Engineering or Platform Engineering
- At least 3 years of experience architecting and building AI/ML platform solutions at large scale
- Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (fine-tuning, prompt engineering, deployment)
- Proficiency in LLM-related frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex
- Expertise in high-level programming languages (Python, JVM technologies)
- Deep knowledge of distributed data processing frameworks (Spark, Dask, Flink)
- Strong cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, OCI) and related data services
- Containerization and orchestration skills (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with message queuing and streaming technologies (Kafka, Pulsar)
- Familiarity with Data Warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery) and Data Orchestration tools (Airflow, Kubeflow)
- Demonstrable leadership abilities and experience mentoring engineering teams
- Proven track record in designing resilient, scalable, and high-performance data systems
Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and optimize data platforms and pipelines tailored for LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and autonomous AI agent systems at Exabyte scale
- Lead the deployment and adoption of agentic workflows and harnessing techniques to enable autonomous security features
- Design scalable, fault-tolerant, and cost-effective data solutions emphasizing rapid iteration and high-quality delivery
- Write clean, performant, and well-tested production code, ensuring fast shipping without sacrificing quality
- Provide technical leadership in data modeling, normalization, and semantic cataloging for AI/ML workloads
- Establish best practices for MLOps/DataOps, including monitoring, observability, and zero-touch recovery mechanisms for AI services
- Mentor engineers through technical workshops, design reviews, and knowledge sharing on AI platform technologies
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and engineering teams to transition research prototypes into production-ready services
- Oversee the full lifecycle of critical data services from development to deployment and ongoing monitoring
