Position Overview

We are seeking a Data Engineer with strong hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience to support the Enterprise Information Management implementation program. The resource will design, build, test, and operationalize governed data pipelines, reusable ingestion patterns, data quality controls, and trusted data products across priority platforms. This is a 6 month Remote Contract to be done in Canada aligning with the Mountain Time Zone.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and build Microsoft Fabric data engineering workloads using Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Notebooks, Spark, SQL Endpoint, and OneLake.
- Implement AFSC Raw, Curated, and Trusted data layers for governed data delivery.
- Build scalable ingestion and transformation pipelines for Salesforce, Oracle/SAP, APIs, files, and other enterprise sources.
- Develop reusable metadata-driven pipeline patterns for full, incremental, and CDC-style loads.
- Implement data quality checks, reconciliation rules, schema drift handling, audit logging, and restartable pipeline patterns.
- Support Microsoft Purview for data discovery, classification, ownership, stewardship, lineage, and certification, and validate lineage from source through Fabric into Power BI.




- Build Trusted data products that enable certified Power BI semantic models and reporting.
- Apply CI/CD using Azure DevOps, Git, pull requests, automated testing, and controlled deployments across DEV, UAT, and PROD.
- Support access controls using Entra ID groups, RBAC, approved identities, Key Vault, and least-privilege patterns.
- Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot production issues, and create operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with business analysts, source-system SMEs, data stewards, BI developers, platform teams, and governance stakeholders.
- Produce technical documentation, data mappings, pipeline designs, test evidence, and knowledge-transfer materials; mentor junior team members and contribute to reusable engineering standards.

Deliverables

- Operational Raw, Curated, and Trusted Fabric data pipelines for assigned priority sources and data products.
- Reusable metadata-driven ingestion framework supporting full, incremental, and CDC-style loading patterns.
- Implemented data quality, reconciliation, schema-drift, audit logging, restartability, and monitoring controls.
- Purview-integrated cataloging, classification, ownership/stewardship metadata, lineage, and certification support for delivered data products.
- Trusted data products and curated datasets ready for certified Power BI semantic models and reporting.
- Azure DevOps/Git CI/CD assets and controlled deployment processes across DEV, UAT, and PROD.
- Technical documentation, source-to-target mappings, pipeline designs, test evidence, operational runbooks, and knowledge-transfer materials. Skills &

Qualifications: 4+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, BI engineering, or enterprise data platform delivery.

- 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, or Azure data engineering services.




- Strong SQL skills and solid understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts.
- Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and pipeline support.
- Hands-on Spark-based data processing and notebook-driven development experience.
- Experience with Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, SQL Endpoint, Data Factory, and semantic model enablement.
- Experience designing batch and incremental data pipelines.
- Experience applying CI/CD and engineering best practices to data and analytics workloads.
- Strong understanding of data governance, access control, lineage, metadata, and data quality.
- Familiarity with Power BI and downstream analytics enablement.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Hands-on Microsoft Purview experience including data catalog, scans, classification, glossary, lineage, or governance workflows.
- Experience with Salesforce, Oracle, SAP, SharePoint/M365, APIs, or file-based ingestion.
- Experience building metadata-driven data pipeline frameworks.
- Experience with Azure DevOps YAML pipelines, Git integration, automated validation, and release management.
- Experience with data quality frameworks, reconciliation, audit logging, and operational monitoring.
- Experience supporting modernization from legacy or on-premises platforms to Azure/Fabric.
- Experience working in regulated or governance-heavy environments.
- Microsoft certifications such as Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
